Stuart, 18 Jun 2008Larry, The information I am about to share with you are ... moreyes. This is how one should interact in the given space. Not blah blah..The sheer amount of stupidity is astounding. One should atleast go through the specs. of a hand set before asking for information.

Top tip to save batt life, use a dark colour wallpaper, it works wonders, the one i have is almost black with a little moto logo in the middle, also turn brightness down to 0 you dont need it any higher no matter what the light conditions are.

This is a sleek phone with terrible software.
Certain key functions are simply not possible,
for example programming of master keys.
The clicking is unpredictable, right arrow
produces an "m", left arrow produces a "g",
when keeping notes. Menu navigation is next
to impossible. I need 50+ clicks to set an alarm. Very few configuration capabilities.
I miss my V3, which lasted 3 years in my hands. Oh, and V8 is incompatible with Mac OS X, e.g. iSync. In general, I am very disappointed, and looking for other options.

Raj,
Which Jabra model are you using? How's the performance, voice clarity for incoming (can you hear the other party clearly?) and outgoing (can the other party hear you clearly?). How's the volume, good?

Larry,
The information I am about to share with you are strictly my personal opinion. Some people might not agree with them but I'm just trying to provide you with the information you are looking for.
The V8 is a good phone, generally, depending on what are you looking for. V8 is a solidly built mobile phone, with good reception... good sound quality... good design....
If you are looking for more.. say, a good camera, it has a 2.0MP which is acceptable to me but might not for some. I've used it for emails, print outs (small prints) and a handy camera as and when needed - it served my requirements well. If camera is important to you, then I would recommend you to buy a separate digital camera instead of a camera phone. Same goes to MP3 player for music.
If your expectations are more flexible, camera and music player for occasional use, then V8's for you. Battery life (even for other phone brands) is a problem if camera, music player, bluetooth, 3G, GPS are used for a certain duration. I have some friends of mine who are happy with their "music phone" but not on other features. So I guess it's hard to satisfy everybody's expectations.
So is V8 the phone for you? Do you like it? Its your call.
I know I like it, I've been using it for 6 months now and found that, the Crystal Talk Voice Quality is now my preferred feature and will be my benchmark on my next phone purchase. The bass & treble balanced well unlike some phones, treble seems to be higher. Some might not agree with this, the V8 seems stronger in signal reception than other brand, tested it with my wife's phone.
Hope the information above helps.

Raj,
Did you purchase the Jabra bluetooth headset recently? Except for the current batch of bluetooth headsets from Motorola (that I know) that have "Quick Connect" feature, majority of the other bluetooth brands require a standard pairing procedure. I met a friend from Texas having problem pairing her Samsung WEP-210 with her Motorola V3i phone and the phone shop assistant told her to just turn on the bluetooth headset & its done. Funny how people sell products these days.
For normal pairing procedure, Press the "on" button of your bluetooth unit, most brands require a longer press (holding the on button for 4 - 8 seconds, depending on brands) until you see a blue & red color blinks alternatively, then proceed to your V8, open Settings menu, open Connections, open Bluetooth, press Option and press Search for Device. The Jabra should show up in the list of bluetooth devices found after maybe 10 seconds or less. Click on Jabra and follow the instruction on your screen to complete the pairing. Password as usual is "0000".
Those with "Quick Connect" feature, pairing or connecting is real quick. I've not used Jabra before, try looking into your manual to get the buttons right as some bluetooth headsets require pressing two different buttons to put them in discoverable mode by your phone, example - pressing "on" button together with volume button, maybe - or +.
So Raj, I would appreciate if you could put up your feedback on the Jabra bluetooth headset's performance once you've successfully paired them up for everyone's benefit and info. We all could make good use of your experience and information for future purchase purpose on this particular brand or model. I personally shortlisted Jabra BT8040 & Motorola H12 and purchased the H12 finally. There are lots of reviews on bluetooth headsets and sometimes its kind of difficult to make a good decision as the reviews contained both good & bad. It's good to have feedback from actual users like you.
Good luck & hope this could help.

Ok some updates on my Motorola v8 luxury: As I have stated previously I purchased the phone in February and within a few months began experiencing keyboard function problems. As my phone was meant for the UK market, Motorola USA would obviously not honor the warranty. I called a few Motorola authorized repair centers and would up using the $19.95 per issue live problem resolution service from fixya.com. Despite the tech being in India he seemed to know the phone inside and out. When all is said and done, I shut the phone down, removed the battery and with my fingers I pressed the exterior of the keypad extremely hard than started pressing the areas between the keys very hard. After that I began to press the keys themselves with firm pressure. I put the battery back in and low and behold the keypad functions perfectly! This was over a week ago, and I have had no problems since. I can actually dial and text accurately now. And they keys do not stick nor do they not register. Everything works perfectly.
