Oooops, must have been very tired...

"Remember that theoretiaclly you will reduce the effect by a factor of eight every time you double the distance for an omnidirectional antenna."

not 2*2*2 only 2*2

"Remember that theoretiaclly you will reduce the effect by a factor of FOUR every time you double the distance for an omnidirectional antenna."

          First off some points:
          1) You don't need more memory
          2) You don't need mp3
          3) You don't need camera

It's a phone - signal quality and build quality are all that matter. I couldn't care less if I can't record high quality video and pay out the nose to send it.

The only people who "need" those features are people who don't have more to do with their lives but take movies with their phone, play games on them, or want to feel important with their "always on email".

The truth is, being able to receive a call, and hear the other person crystal clear, has and will always be the most important feature of any phone.

Remember, why cram all these features into the handset? I can use my ultra portable laptop via bt to get to the internet anytime...

Ok... the moment of truth... I had a sharp gx27(Malaysia version of the gx22) before I got my V3 and I have to confess that the features of the gx27 are faaar better than the v3. I am very often in the middle of client conferences or appointments when my phone rings or beeps and I have to say that my gx27 never quite got the kind of attention that the v3 got. Every time that I flip the little v3 open, you can just see everybody's jaw dropping around you. In a bid to reconcile the v3 lovers/haters in this forum-v3 is NOT a phone you would want to buy for its features but you will definitely want to get it for its looks. Quite a lot of people say that they hate the phone but they have probably not been in the kind of situation I have just described. The V3 is the phone you want to be seen using, as opposed to the phone you might want to use for its performance.

hi i have just got this phone and have to say i am impressed with the way it looks. Not so impressed with features, but have to admit i brought it on an entirley looks basis. As stated in other posts, if i want to listen to mp3 i use my mp3 player, if i want to take pictures i use my digital camera, my phone is a phone and was never supposed to be any of the other things mentioned.
My biggest complaint with the phone is my voicemail facility, i can't turn it off and thats a network fault not a phone fault, if i had known i would have chosen same phone different network, as i hate voicemail, its bad enough at work without being plagued by it in my free time.

I see a few praising the sinal strength, let me repeat the why: To my knowledge the first phone ever with correct placement of the antenna!!

                  That is by the microphone!!!

Better reception when the head is blocking a much smaller portion than half the field, and thus prolonged talk time

And as an extra benifit less braintoasting BOTH due to lesser sending effect needed AND the further distance from the antenna to the brain. Remember that theoretiaclly you will reduce the effect by a factor of eight every time you double the distance for an omnidirectional antenna.

The truth of the matter is this.. the phone sucks for its price, if the phone was $299 there probably wouldnt be any negative feedback but its $500 where you got phones like the v551 that has more features for less. i've notice no one has a problem with reception or battery life just features
All that means to me is the... PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to play mp3s, buy an ipod. If you want to take photos and view them, buy a digital camera. This is a PHONE and does the job wonderfully. Simple as that. If the people moaning about the memory can afford to buy this phone, then they can afford to buy a £30 bluetooth adapter for their PC to transfer their photos off the phone. And why anyone gets upset about not being able to record 5fps 10x10 crap-o-vision videos is a mystery; just let your mates record the video on their phones and spend their money sending it to you!

                                Hi Guy's

I have done loads of reaserch into phones, I have onwed the xda1 and 2 as well as the mpx 200. All of these are smartphones or PDA;s with great features. However Phones are a personal choice. For me a camera and MP£ player are not a priority. The Motorola V3 is a well designed phone with plenty of features. As far as I see it the more features you have the slower the phone runs and the more chance of it hanging. The dsign is solid the look is good and it has all the standard phone features. I rate this a a great little phone have you ever notice how stupid you look with an xda in your pocket!! Size does count when it comes to phones. I give this an 8 out of ten.

                                Well done Motorola.

Juz bought this V3...admit that the features is quite bad..especially memory is 2 little! if it has a expandable memory slot,it will be a worthy hp.I like this fone becoz it is very light and sleek :) quite cool

I am still using Motorola V3 for about 4 months now. I could tell you what about V3: it's not reliable! software & operating system suck. It runs real sloooow. DESIGN: 9/10. FEATURE: 8/10. RELIABLE: 5/10... Go with Nokia is much much better!
