I got this smartphone a month ago so far it is the best which I have ever before. Battery life is a issue u need to charge it everyday but overall performance is gr8 GPS option is very good and its works fine without wifi via satellite.
Thats I will rate 9.5/10 in this price.

With the courtesy of my phone company
I gave the Spice a trial run of a week
Its a slippery bugger, so you definitely need a skin of some sort to aid you in handling it.
However the only ones available are gloves that hold it and don't allow for any screen viewing.
The interface is quite slick if you have the patience to get used to it.
Although im a little disappointed in the stock rom. 2.2 i believe.
Its quite eye jarring in addition to the QVGA screen (going on smoke here).
While the slider keypad is ALA torch I'm not so fond of the keys themselves. They remind me of one of those 1990's Organizers with the acryllic-like keys.
Again time and patience will lead you to enjoying it.
But when it comes to games and videos don't expect much as the cpu is severly limited at 528 of which you'll probably get around 400-440.
Videos are grainy due to the screen quality and HQ as they present it, looks like low quality while low quality looks like 240p through a filter of sorts.
Back to redeeming qualities, the camera.
Finally a motorola phone that can deliver almost instant pictures in reasonable quality.
THIS was impressive and almost made me keep it considering the rarity of such a good stock camera.
Another plus, email
its fast, real fast. Even on 3G i was surprised at how fast it picked up anything that went to my gmail.
Call quality, its clear and good enough that i have no major complaints save positioning.
If you can somehow get past the atrocious stock roms Motorola love so much and install a custom rom.
Then you'll have a decent phone for some time

RE: Motorola SPICE
I've had the Moto Spice for about 3 months now, and so far I'd say it's a good phone for the price you pay.
I've never owned a device like this before, and thus far I'm satisfied. The Spice has a lot of cool little features that make it unique and fun to play around with (Ex. Backtrack). The design and layout of the phone is great and easy to use, and the asthetics of the phone are fantastic.
I will say however, I've been somewhat disappointed by the battery life and speed of the phone. I have to charge it every night, which can be annoying, especially if I forget to plug it in. The speed was been a major issue for me until I just recently downloaded LauncherPro (Which I HIGHLY recomend you get if you buy this phone, and it's FREE). The Spice has some issues with speed, and sometimes it freezes and won't respond. However, LauncherPro seems to have fixed this issue for me.
Overall, for the price you pay, the Spice is a very good phone. It looks great, it's well layed out, and once you get over the battery life and performance issues, you'll learn to love this phone.
DESIGN: 9/10 Design is fantastic. It looks great, doesn't feel too big or too small in your hands, touch screen is easy to navigate, and the keyboard is a perfect size.
FEATURES: 9.5/10 I'm new to the smartphone world, so having a phone like this is amazing. The Android market is great, and the little features that come with the phone make it awesome.
PERFORMANCE: 8/10 Until recently, I probably would've given the performance of this phone a 2, but LauncherPro has made this phone a million times better. With that said, the performance of this phone with LauncherPro is excellent, and everything is running smooth. I still have an issue with battery life, but if you don't mind charging your phone every night, then you'll love this phone.

Greg, 14 May 2011I must say, this is cool phone. cheap budget. very comforta... moreI know, I really want 2.2 with app2SD function, and I don't care about 2.3...(maybe I really like Froyo and hate Gingerbread!)
I can get an XT300 in China for US$200, unlock without contract, which sounds tempting, except the 2.1 part.

Not bad on a cheap budget, however the phone screen breaks and cracks very easy. Had two phones it's time to switch to another model. Other then that it works well.
