I have purchased my phone only 2months ago and am very disappointed with it. It turns off while I am listening to music, continually freezes and turns off and over heats while in standby. I had talked to three australia and now have decided to cancel my plan with three. Very disappointing with motorola and three! SONY ERICCSON U ROCK!!!

Dear Tony
Yes, you can set an MP3 as a ringtone on your V3x. I used a track I had selected from my iTunes library (one I had originally purchased on CD and not bought 'electronically' from the iTunes website as you can't use those due to copyright laws), put it onto my desktop and then HERE's THE SLIGHTLY CLEVER BIT, downloaded a copy of MP3 trimmer (the software is out there on the net somewhere - just key in 'Mp3 trimmer' in your browser), drag-and-dropped the audio track onto the trimmer and cut the track so it started where I wanted it to. Otherwise you get a ringtone that builds up to something and then stops and diverts to the answermachine before you've had time to hear the ringtone properly. I've also had the Nokia N70 which I really regret having as that would NOT let me use MP3s as ringtones. Which was a bummer because the ringtones that came with the Nokia were really dire. When you import the trimmed MP3 onto your Moto it will give you the option to listen to it first and then also to set as ringtone.Sorted. Nice and easy. Even for the likes of me.

Pros:
If you like motorola and want 3G, its there best phone at the moment., thats all.
CONS
-no audio recording for your own ring tones, they want you to buy them.
-no video wallpaper possible, only screen saver
-you can only pay for games to play them
-battery used for this phone where from 2002 models and die fast
-this is bigger then a v3 and plastic
-plastic lenses for video and picts
-cheap casing, alike the demo models in stores
-nothing like a v3, its a soap bar compared to a RAZOR!

get rid of this phone and get a real one, try the v3 next time, its the one people love but it aint 3G.
i realy advise anyone who has a v3 to compare this phone side by side, they are NOT ANYTHING ALIKE at all, the v3 has a real camera and matalic casing, this v3x is all aplstic down to the lenses, uses the older larger and short lived batteries and also can not record audio.
this phone was actually made to be marketed to customers seeking a 3G phone, its is NOT a v3 upgrade, downgrade if anything.

I bought brand new and used it for 3 days. I'm very happy having sold it even at a loss as I waiting to buy the Nokia 6280 soon.
V3X is really disappointing. Even thought the camera is 2 megapixels but each pic only about 200 plus minus kb even though set to the highest resolution and the pic is vertical when view on the PC (also not sharp).N70 & K750 2 mega is about 500 plus minus kb and it's very sharp even view on PC.
Video, I read the specification that the video format is MPEG 4 (358 X 288) but it turn out to be old format 174 X 144 and worst only 3 mins per shot. Also when you take video only half screen appear and the other half with the functions buttons.
User interface are almost the same like before (not user friendly) and the ringing
and message tone quite soft (speaker below the phone-sometime blocked).
Battery life only last me one day and fortunately a spare battery comes with it.
The phone feel very plasticky even the V3i look better and more class.
Worst of all, when I tried to transfer pictures from N70 & K750 to V3X by bluetooth. It shown file too big, cannot opened or saved at all and even I tried to reduce the size to 200 kb also file too big.
To be fair to v3x, tried to transfer from K750 to N70 and vice versa (no problems at all).
That's why after 3 long days, cannot tolerate anymore and veryu happy sold my V3X.
No more motorla phone for me al least for the next few years and will stick to Nokia and Se phone.

surprised about the comments knocking battery life on the v3x. i use my phone alot and after being charged over night its still on 3 bars on main screen next night, and when i check the battery meter its always on 6. thats with me using the phone for work and personal use. i wonder if i'm just very lucky or if people are just knocking the phone for the sake of it???

by the way;
i read on on epost here some guy claiming that vodaphone is the only company to sell this phone with a plastic casing, well get this, this phone only comes with the plastic casing, and the guy taht posted it probably never touched a v3x and he probably has a v3 which is more metalic, smaller and lots thinner. so again another liar on these boards.
there are 20 posts that are very fair about the phone, all teh fans admit its weeknesses, but they can not accept them.

hey cannondale, why should a person get a camera to record audio when the phone is a audio device itself?
Why do you crazy motorola fanatics come here to argue with people who are not happy about features they expected this phone to have?, they obviously had higher expectations then you did from motorola, thats agood thing if you ask me, now we know its a plastic phone that can not record audio and has a short lived battery life., and you love it the way moto gives it to yah for the price., not the rest of us though.
Can you accept it or not that some people where misled to this phone and are let down?

This is my little review for V3x
1.Design: It is very good, and it's quality is same as the other similar phones. Keyboard looks like touch screen. I give 7.5 for design.
2.Software and Features: Main screen looks amazing with all those colors and animatoins, but the main screen can be problem outside when is suny. Then visibility is not so good.
But generally screen is very good. I am not sure but I think that camera don't have 2 mega pixels. But picture is good, not very good but good. This phone can reproduce amazingly good mp3 songs especially at 128kbps. 64MB is enough memory but when you put memory card for example in my case that is 256 MB you will have to many memory.
I would say that software is lil'bit complicated other words you will need more then few days to get use to it. But in the end software is very good. It is trouth that bluetooth is lil'bit slower but who cares.
V3X have all other standard features, but i see that some people are "concern" 'cose this phone don't have voice recording. Who needs a voice recording these days. But if you need it buy a camera :) Other bad side of this phone is battery. But what do you expect for mobile who have mp3 player, camera and other features? You probable expect that battery will last 3 days, but it won't. But I don't see a problem to charge v3x evry night before you go to sleep. For software and features i give 8.
3.Performance: Mostly good and i don't have anything to add. I give 8.
Average mark for this phone is 7.83.
But this is only my opinion.

I have this phone for a week now. I've pretty much taken it for a long drive and testing its features. What can i say? Im very impressed with it. Bluetooth works fine with me and the voice dial makes life so much easier and safer specially when yur driving. There is only one problem that i have with this phone. I can no longer charge the phone from the main power, so I have to charge it from my pc via usb. Has anyone have had this problem before? please let me know. But because I've only had it for a week, im just gonna take it back and get a new one. GO 3!! Overall, I believe Im getting attached to this phone interms of style and functions.

Hello everyone. I have had this phone for 1 month now and can honestly say its a great phone. I have noticed a lot of negative posts, bashing this phone. I love phones on a whole, and am not faithful to any one brand. I go with what's worth my money.
The v3x does what it is supposed to do well. The pictures it takes look great. If you want better quality pics,go get a digicam. The mp3's don't sound cd quality but then again it is a phone not an mp3 player. It is not as thin a the razr v3. So what. It is also not the bulkiest phone out there. It fists in your pocket well enough.
I don't want to drone on,but the phone is worth it. The only thing the phone could use is edge but that along with the volume level is a personal preferance. You won't regret your purchase if you choose to go with the v3x.

There is a more powerfull battery for V3X. I think it is BC 70 with 1200 mAh. Can be found on the net for about 40 euros/45USD.
