You guys will not believe the difference. I had the v3x with the vodafone software. I flashed it with the latest original Motorola software. Man, it is night and day. Before the phone was slow, phonebook bug, no voice dial recognition. It was horrible. Now everything works perfectly, better battery life, better reception, so much faster. It is an amazing phone. Even the camera and video are much better. What a dream is this phone. You guys can not judge this phone with the carriers software. This is not the phone's or Motorola's fault. Blame the carriers, Vodafone, 3, etc...
Be fair. This is an amzing cell phone, if you have the Motorola software, of course.

Its allways the same case, every time a new technology comes out the phone companies rid of old parts., in this case Motorola has added 3G, but lied about a 2Mpx camera, decent display and features missing like a new software interface, this one also showcked awaited users who wanted 3G.
IF you do not need 3G, you do not need this phone.
If you want a phone that is a flip, with 3G and all the features, just pay 10 dollars more for a nokia and live with there Ugly coorperate looking buiseness man's phones, eitherwise get that Sony V800 which is decent for everything, i dont use 3G so im getting a 3V, definatly not a 3vx, its a downgrade for sure.

had this phone for couple of days and i am returning it to orange i like some aspects of it but it is quite big and feels like a step back in time. the music player only loads when it feels like it and the battery life is very poor for a modern phone. this is obviously a problem with new multimedia phones but come on, my old ericsson flip used to last all week and that was years ago. also no voice recorder and the predictive text is a pain. my last phone was a samsung d500 and it is still a better phone overall. i expect this will be a bargain bin special before long especially with the new 3g flip phones due out soon. i am replacing it with a d600 or 750i.

Can i describe how backwards of a downgrade this has come to be?
lets start wit the fact that its camera and video quality is average for the year 2001, yes that is what i said, 2001., i found phones with the same camera specs from 2001 !!!
Why?;
plastic lense, display, and photo zoom mode botton, very CHEAP!!!!
5 look forward to getting a Sony V800 even though i have this garbage v3x for free., the V800 is bette rthen most nokias cuase its a flip, alhough i like the N90., and the V800 is way mkore reliable then the vx3 in most areas, 3G, camera, video, interface software, battery life, looks, display (V3x looks like a 1999 display), and a few other things like video wall paper, been able to record your own ring tones or anything you want to use your audio for and on .
i just had to share it with all the victems of Motorola's marketing hype, so if you want to know for sure, DO NOT GET THIS PHONE, TRY IT AN DYOU WILL SEE WHY!

nope
Sony ericson won
Motorola V3x is the begining of the end for Motorola,
-this phone can not even send photos via messages, says sending for 10 mins an dthen nothing happens,
-vodafone software and motorola "DO NOT" let there users record simple sounds for ringtones or just ideas so they can trick users into paying money to download ringtones.,
-battery life dis too fast before you know it when using the phone, eitherwise 2 and a half days stand by.
To be simple about it, it sthe ugliest phone, yet better looking then Nokia's brick phones., but the display models at the voda shops look more solid then the real deal.

I found that if you have no need for 3G coverage (I mean who makes video calls?!), the battery life improves dramatically. Just go to Settings -> Network -> Network Setup and change Band to 900/1800. Et voila!

Hi Gangsta Moto
Thanks for your info. I too have phone on Vodafone.
I am a novice when it comes to phones. Can you explain what I need to do to make this phone work well for me. I want rid of Vodafone - but want to save my photos first. How or where can I get software to help me?
Any help appreciated.

To John:
First things first... GET OFF IVANS NUTS!!!
2nd thing... if you aint knowledgeable about what we call flashing and flexing then keep quiet and listen instead of disputing everything.
Unlocking the V3x is not the samething as changing/flashing the software.
Once you get rid of the Vodafone modded software you have on your phone... you will notice a whole lot of improvements with the phones...camera included.
Take this for an example... you probably cant change some of the softkeys on your phone cos Vodafone has set it a certain way so u are now forced to use voda live etc... have a look thru the Original motorola manual and you find that you should be able to do this... do u know why?... cos Motorola have built the ohone to work that way... ur network have now made changes to suit them and save money too.
I.e... on Orange when the V3x comes we get USB cable, MPT 4.0 cd rom; sd card, transflash card manual, charger.
You guys on voda or the 3 network dont even get the MPT 4.0 or something silly... wanna know why?... cos the networks ordered it from Motorola that way so they can make you the consumer buy it.
Also...look at the homescreen for the Voda V3x and the Orange V3x... different..why?...cos the network modified it.
Now maybe you can try to listen more to John and sort your phone out instead of coming on here moaning like some 2 year old.

Derick:
My phone's battery life is about 18 - 24 hours. - Thats with all the battery saving options on. Quick backlight timeout, low contrast on the screen, no animation bla bla bla.
The camera might be better on Motorola's own software. - Cos its to do with the data compression being used. - It saves the files as a Jpeg and the compression can be changed with Jpgs. But I don't know which platform is better ( I don't care enough about that kinda stuff).
-----------------------------
I have recently received a replacement V3x (as my last phone went up sh*t creek).
Now I own an apple computer, and I tell you, downloading the contacts was a fricken pain.
A, it doesn't sync with Isync.
B, Phonetools doesn't work when I tried doing this on a PC (atleast for me anyway).
C, Motorola claim you can upload you contact book via your network provider. - Guess what? It's not compatible with the V3x.
So what did I do (I hear you ask)? Had to put in a PAYG chip in and transfer the numbers over the sim. Then use my V3 to sync up with my Apple. - had to do this 3 times cos, i have about 280 numbers. The sim can only hold names and numbers; so i ended up loosing email addresses, and date of births and so on. Boy was I peeved.
Conclusion?
Get ready ebay, I'm selling my V3x.

Just real quick questions
1. How long is the battery life (standby and talk time) on this phone that is NOT VODAPHONE branded. Either someone different or the 3 branded.
2. Is it really that much bigger than a razr? I mean i know its bigger, but it still seems like a small phone.
3. Anyone who has this phone regret it? All except the vodaphone people, seems like vodaphone branded v3x sucks.

To John;
Also, to get the original v3x software, you got to "flash it";(Technical term). You get a better camera, battery life and signal.

To John!
Thank you!
Because you have this phone, I want you to tell me if the phone is so bad(like the other people say)when it have the Motorola original software(when it is taken on free, not from Vodafone or another network)
