Well, I've now had the phone for two days and have been playing with it quite a bit. On the plus side, the design is nice and I personally don't find the weight to be a problem. I like the feel of the device in my hand. Further, the camera and screen are great. On the negative side though, the list is much longer. The user interface is horrible....you can't find crap on this phone and it's a pain in the ass to get used to. I had Nokias, SE's, and Siemens phones in the past, but Motorola simply sucks! Further, the mail client is crap. I simply can't get it to work though I know my setting are all correct. The lack of IR is a pain as you have to constantly have a USB cable or Bluetooth capability to synchronize. I don't have BT on all my computers (home, business, laptop, etc.) The audio player is extremely basic and not much to be excited about. The battery life is OK, but also nothing like my previous Nokia 6230. Text input (iTAP) is also crap. It's not difficult but just not as easy as regular T9 on other devices for some reason. This might just be me. Finally, something I should have seen upfront but didn't consider: you can't use to phone one-handed. You always need to use two hands to open it. For some reason, this drives me nuts. I am seriously considering selling this thing and getting the Samsung D600 which simply is so much easier to use and smaller/easier/intuitiver!

Just got my V3x from 3 today, its one of the pretty plastic black and silver ones. At first impressed but now not so sure. I can't get the bluetooth to link to my old V3, computer or my tom tom go 700. The tom tom recognises the V3x but came back with "unable to use this phone. Your phone did not report any bluetooth features."
The camera is quite good with a 4 stage zoom and the video has 2 stage.
The calculator, calendar and alarm are just the same as the old V3 - very basic. Also you don't get the nice quick release leather belt pouch like the old V3, and it's a fairly heavy lump to carry around in your pocket. I think I will be sending this phone back and get a samsung D600. Not impressed at all.

I've had this phone about 5 days now, which replaced my LG8138. Looks fantastic, sounds reasonable and feels good in the hand. As my first motorola, am finding the firmware a bit tricky to navigate - not intuitive but ok. The predictive text is odd but effective and (hurrah) the dictionary seems vast!
The screen is superb as is the quality of the camera, with an optical and digital zoom. Seems to work nicely with my Jabra BT205 headset with no hassle setting up. Battery life is a bit on the slight side even for a 3G phone but still new...
It's probably not streets ahead of most other modern 3G phones in spec and may be surpassed by some (i wouldn't know) but I do know there isn't another 3G phone that touches it for sleek sex appeal IMHO.

dont buy 3g unless you live and work in a well built up area - you'll get rubbish reception!

Initially I was chuffed. Nice design, good features. I'm having a few software problems now after owning it for a couple of weeks. The alarm doesn't always go off and worst still, the voice recognition system that I thought was amazing no longer works!!
Does anyone know the master reset code?

music files from itunes are compatible...I tried this last night. However you won't be able to play files downloaded from the itunes store as these are protected files...you will need to remove the copy protection from the files first.

I have just bought one and it's all great apart from - when you enter a phone contact - the first time you enter it, it doesn't work, just quits back to the home screen - if you delete it and enter it again - then it's ok. I've contacted Vodafone about this and am waiting to hear.

There are two sound players on the V3x one is the same software as the ROKR which continues to play once the lid has shut, the other is the inbuilt software which when you close the lid allows you to control the music by the buttons on the left hand side. To anyone buying this phone, i've had mine for 3 days now & i'm loving it. Great features & a good linkup with my pc for syncing, so no hassle copying my contacts.

I got this phone as a free upgrade from Vodafone last week. They said that they had it in black, but when it arrived it was "Ash Silver", which unfortunately looks very plasticky! I have seen the black ones, on the 3 network, which i think look a lot better, but can't seem to get a straight answer out of Vodafone whether or not they will ever have them in black. Can anyone out there help. I like the features its just the plastic look that lets it down.

Spoke to Three Australia today ( 19/12/2005)to order that order the Motorola V3X which has just come to their website last weekend.

I was told by the sales person to select some other phone as they said that this phone had known issues and they have not been able to resolve them yet.

                                      1. The battery life is not much and lasts only a day or so.

                                      2. It does not latch on to the networks while roaming.
( I have had a Motorola A835 and it has the same problems as well, I was hoping that these problems would have been sorted out.

So I ordered the LG U880 now.

can you carry on playing MP3's through the earplugs while the phone is closed? if so, how?
