Hey. Does any of you got an idea from where i can download the software needed to transfer data from the handset to my PC. I left my cd home (10.000 km away), and it will be magnificent if i could find that on the Net.

Can anyone pls help... I can not copy contacts from phone memory to USIM card, because the USIM card folder does not appear as the destination folder.

Can anyone tell me why I have a little icon at bottom right of my screen which looks like a light globe with a / thru it? Also, I seem to not be able to dial out???

Right... I'm 13 and I got my phone working absolutely fine. If you can't get it then you have the intelligence of a chimpanze. To connect it to your computer and to transfer files all you have to do is install the "File Transfer" software. Then you plug the phone in... It will say that it needs to be installed. Let it automatically install all the drivers. Every time you plug it in it will ask you this. Just ignore it. Then you go into file transfer and hit image or whatever. Then you transfer. No files over 5 megabytes will be sent as there is some problem. I dunno. I DO want to know how to unlock it using the data cable though. Would be quite useful. Overall this phone is quite good. I hope this helped some people.

If you bought new, where is the problem?? Go and ask in the shop.
If you stole it (like most probably some of the guys posting ridiculous questions did), go away!

my son had a nec e616 for xmas and he turned it on the other day and the screen just says nec we cant call out or anything can anyone tell me what the problem is please

bought this fone for 45 quid,which i thought was cheap at the time,for its capability.got cable unlock because 3 network is limited and same old stuff eg angry kid etc.now ive put an 02 genie card in with free 300 text per month and top up a tenner a month for voice calling credit. marvelous apart from cant use memory card because it wont format and i dont know how to set up gprs or normal wap settings and also mms settings. can anyone help???????? pleez.pleez.pleez.

DONT BUY THIS PHONE! I was tricked into buying this 10 months ago when the contract offer was £30 a month, i wouldn't even get the phone for £2.99 a month that '3' are now offering. I have has endless problems with the handset leading to it being replaced 3 times over the contract length, there is no real bluetooth, the camera is poor buy the standards of phones now, the video length is only 60secs, the reception over the '3' network is not very good and customer service is poor. Apart from the fact you can get football downloads on your phone buying the NEC 616 is pointless.

Free handset
12 months rental at 2.99 a month - 500 cross network mins and 100 texts! No lock in on the contract after the 12 months either.
Even if it ain't perfect, for less thn £36 for a whole year inc phone, I just can't moan! So good, I bought two!

DONT BUY IT, if you don't know what to do with money than buy it.Missing further option: No file transfer over bletoth, no upload games only download. If you unlock this phone you gona not be able to use gprs and mms in other network except O2,orange&vodafon.Only good point is design.I asked my self who employ such a stupid people in NEC. I regret each penny I gave for it.

OK - The reason you guys can't connect to other phones or PC's using bluetooth is because the NEC 616 only uses bluetooth for the bluetooth headset, not for connecting to other phones! To connect to a PC, you need to use the USB cable + the NEC software (available on the NEC CD). The battery life is truly diabolical (I have to carry 2 batterys in case one runs out!). Other than that the phone is'nt too bad, other than it looks like a brick! Would I ever buy this phone again - in short - no damn chance! I only hope the other NEC phones are better, otherwise I'll be exchanging this pile of garbage for a sony ericsson, or a motorola!

LOL..where do i begin..i brought this phone off a mate(1st mistake..now im stuck with it) one of the main reasons i got it was because of bluetooth..the idea of sharing files eg pics, mp3s and videos for FREE..so i try using my bluetooth..1st of all i'm thinking my phones broke wheres my mate im gonna knock him out..then i looked the problem up on the internet and find out that on nec e616v you cant connect to other phones, you cant shares files. So ok now i'm thinking to bad, never mind theres other good features about this phone, But then the battery length let me down, as i was late for school (yes i am still a high school student lol) But yet there are a few good things about this phone, picutre quality is quite good compared to some nokias :D, the torch is also a good feature so we can have pics in the dark :D. Another bad thing about this phone is it's quite large, and also theres menus everywhere but yet you can't select some of the options on it, does anybody else get this same proble m? i'll look forward to hearing some replies...thanks
