Ilike my phone now, the most problems is most likly software bugs.
I got my phone (E616) back from upgrading the software couple of days ago, and with the new software the standby time on the batteries become much better.
The software bug that made it impossible to send SMS is now gone.
The suddenly crashing in middle of playing musikvideos, mp3 and calling up people seems to have been removed.
The new software I have is :
SW
ACPU: A026.00.02
CCPU: C623.R2A

Just to let everyone know, You cant unlock NEC e616v completely using remote unlocking. It will only be unlocked temporarily. If you use cable unlocking then it will be unlocked completely and can use any sim any where in the world.
The bad news is the new NEC e616 which has been produced in last few weeks cant be unlocked even by using cable unlocking. But dont panick, the codes are coming in few weeks, but not sure about the remote code generator.
take care

HI
Just to let everyone know, Nec E616V can not be unlocked for the moment, not even using cables. Its new nec phones and its going to take another 10 days for the unlocking patch to arrive, so those who got e616v they wont be able to unlock their phones, hence no point emailing me your imei number because i wont be able to do it. For those of you who bought e616 about 5 months ago then those phones can be unlocked rmotely as well, but those of you who bought it about 3 weeks ago, well you guys have to wait.

NEC e616 NOT receive text messages from a T610 on Tmobile But will receive voice calls and pictures.
However, T610 on Tmobile will receive voice and text from the same NEC e616.
Seems the system is designed to get you to use the most expensive options for communication.

Got this phone about 3 months ago. Haven't experienced the major problems that most users here write about (unable to play media, short battery life etc.) apart from a couple of lock ups where I had to turn it off and "reboot" it. (Then again, that sounds like any Windows OS user, right?)
Not bad. It does the job for a relatively cheap price. Don't have a problem with the 3 network, either. (As a prepaid customer I kinda don't mind getting double my money in credit.) My only real beef with it is the keys are small, and sunken into the phone. With a flip cover, they're near impossible to press accurately without using a nail for the job. A real pain in the ass when it comes to playing games or doing calculations.

Ok since everyone is so confused about NEC and 3 phones hence i guess i should break some news to you.
There is only one software that can unlock NEC phones remotely, but its only for temporary use. That means everytime you switch it off, you will have to enter all the codes again to unlock it. You guys can email me and i can send the code for the temporary unlocking for all the NEC phones.
If you want to unlock it permanently then you will have to do it using cables.
By the way, to my ozzy friend, who was saying something about us POMMIES. Well may be in australia they havent restricted unlocking, but in UK they have made it near impossible to unlock. If 3 company made it easy to unlock then us pommies could have unlocked ages ago, certainly lot quicker than you ozzie kangroos. Hence dont write random comments about something which you aussies dont even understand. Go and have a foster, that will help you understand.
Take care everyone.

I spent an hour to read all the opinions and complains on NEC e616v. I was going to buy one for someone's Christmas present, but now, I doubt it. And I want to ask a few questions about this phone:
1. Can I use it abroad, like other parts of the world?
2. What is it all about the unlocked code?
3. Is the reception (dialling and receving calls) ok?
..so...Can someone give me any suggestions whether i should buy it or not? please e-mail me to help me out.
cheers, sab

Was very tempted to buy this phone as a gift for somebody this Christmas - after spending 20 mins and reading some reviews - it sounds more like a present for Halloween - trick rather than treat!
Pay as You Go but £15 a month???
