Looks like you poms are up to your usual whining or the 3 network in your country is just so shiite that it just a shame that you have to spend money on something that dosen't work. (been there done that).Here in oz I or my mates have not had a problem with either the phone or the network.(touch wood) I am very happy with both and it didn't take long to learn the in's and out's of the phone. I make sure i back everything up on my PC every week just incase something does happen. I have a 128mb sony memory stick in the phone and back it up also. Hope you guys & 3 UK can sort these problems out because i hate to see such bad reviews from a product I think is great. WORKS 4 ME.

I Went to many shops and bogus internet sites all who said they can unlock the nec e616v.
Finaly i have got it unlocked by
networkunlocking.com
it was a very fast service ,sent it on monday back on tuesday plus got a free 02 simcard.

Well, I'll be getting my NEC on Monday and will be using it on the 2G network. I'll tell you how CRAP it really is...since I believe it's the 3 Networks fault and not the phones.
My friend had a 606 before, and it worked just fine on the 2G networks. So I'll see how my 616 will go and I'll write later.

i was going to buy this phone when i saw it for 45 quid in argos BUT then i found out that you have to pay £15 a month?? whats all that about!! pay as you go, thats just like a contract... but they swith the phone of if you dont pay it?? 3 you need to get rid of that 30 day valdity thing cuz its CRAP!

What a s@@t manufacturing!!! I got my phone unlock yesterday and when I started using it the mic was dead. No body can hear me through the phone. I can't record and voice with sound recorder. I used the headset n nothing changed. Called back Carphone and got it replaced I tested the mic and it was ok I did not know about other problems. Now I had to send it back to Networkunlocking.com to get it unlock again but Thanks God they lowered the price into 5 pounds the total will be 10 inc. Special Delivery.

If you live near Ipswich (England) there is a shop there that can unlock NEC phones, if you have a data cable goto "www.thermal.no.sapo.pt" and use the calculator to get an unlock code.
Or goto the NEC website forum it had loads of codes on it

I've had the same promlem as every body else, it turns it's self off, cuts out in the middle of calls, poor reception, you name it i'm now on my 4th phone and can't wait for my contract to end. The only good thing i can say about the phone is the free internet service.

sent them my handset on Wend. by Special Delivery got it today at the very early morning also by Special Delivery
Now I am free !!!
But what a shame it doe not communicate via a bluetooth :(

They will tell you jack all about this phone in the shops, take notice of the reviews on here and don't buy it if you like sharing files by bluetooth, it has V1.0 where most bluetooth phones have V1.1 (Big difference). 3 have done it again in picking a technologically substandard phone. It's slow, it crashes, it can't play Mp3's (well mine can't), the pc software is useless etc etc etc...get the hint. 3 are a waste of time, always have been, and IMHO always will be, I'm going across to Vodaphone as soon as I get the cash.

Have owned an E616v for a couple of weeks now, a few points (negative first)...
* Although it plays MP3's you cannot set one as a ringtone - poly tones only
* Bluetooth only connects with a headset - does not communicate with other mobiles etc
* Battery life is rather short
* Camera quality and video playback is pretty good
* Voice quality quite high (when in good reception area)
* Finally, NO, THIS PHONE CANNOT BE UNLOCKED TO ANY REASONABLY USABLE STANDARD AT PRESENT. STOP BUYING THEM OFF EBAY OR YOUR MATE IN THE PUB UNLESS IT COMES WITH A USEABLE 3 SIM AND YOU ARE HAPPY TO BE ON 3'S NETWORK

Well I have come to know this phone when I lost my Nokia 6600 in London. I went on Edgware Road looking for the cheapest phone and I have come across a shop which introduced me to the phone and advised me to buy it from Argos and come back to unlock it for 8 pounds. She said she was going to send the phone to another shop to unlock it becoz no body knows how to and it'd take one days. Unfortunately, I had to return home the same day and now I bought it from CarfoneWH and I wish I get back to this shop !!!PLeasE any body leads us to unlock it!
