When I was trying to charge the battery, it said battery temperature is too high. Does anyone know why it is, what causes the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks.

L1 has no speakerphone. And if there's a coloured screen outside, it'll become thicker. But the font for the digital clock is nice and contemporary. Still, I like this phone because the pros make up for the cons.

Can anyone tell me if this phone has a speakerphone? It's not listed in the specifications.
It's a pity it doesn't have a small colour screen on its cover.

eddie..if NEC put a memory slot in it..it wouldn't have been the thinnest. this phones selling point is not the features but the size

I also wonder, why is there no card slot for extra memory such as SD card? Some executives also have more than 500 address book contacts. You mean to tell me that with 26MB of memory this phone can not store more than 500 address book contacts?

i saw this phone yesterday...very beutiful phone..but the marketing department should take a leaf from Motorola v3...and give it a fancier name than just the model number.
In fact, this is thinner than V3 and looks sharper than V3. All that hype on v3 and nothing here. This NEC e949 beats v3 on thinness anytime. period.

I was concerned about the battery life initially before I bought this phone. After using it for about 3 months now, I'm pleasantly surprised the way this phone "conserved" battery energy. As long as the cover is closed, the battery will not be used, almost like switching it off. I've tested this by charging it full at night, then left it on. The next morning, I tried charging it again, the battery LED indicator showed it's fully charge. This is one great phone!

Turning the phone off at night-time does make sense in terms of extending the "no-charge period" indeed. When I turn off my P910i at night, it lasts for somewhat 3 days. However, I'm a type of person who never turns off the phone expecting some wild SMS's from my friends on the oposite side of the globe, heh.
Neverthess, I really hope that this Nec can be my next "mobile comrade" in the near future.

In this case I think the 600mHa is a false problem. Nec e949 seems to manage his battery in a different way. In my opinion if you switch off the phone in the night it could show a performance for at least 4 days (not heavy duty). I'll keep you informed.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm still curious if it can show a stable performance for at least 2.5-3 days considering it's 600mAh battery capacity.

Jaykay,
I had this phone for 10 days. I can tell you the battery life is a big surprise: 100 consecutives hours in standby with 4-5 short calls (in a well served area, no text or games). In a medium usage you can get even 40-50 hours of batt-life.

I have been looking around for a replacement of my SE P910i (I'm a gadget freak, but recently decided to take some rest and simply enjoy a styish phone). My primary prey was a NK8800 but so many ppl complaining on its battery life and faulty software made me to switch my looks towards L1. And now I'm seriously willing to buy this phone.
The only thing that I'm concerned now is its battery life.
Can anyone of you who already have bought it tell us how many days can this phone really last?

Got the phone (I got 2, one for me and one for my wife, once again). Love the phone, but the bluebooth isn't working properly.

600mah battery. The battery life on this phone would be appalling.
