It isn't surprising that SE is NOT doing well!
SE is focusing on the high-end phone market TOO much!
No product diversity in low or mid-level phones! If it does, it's crap!
Too many models resemble each other with no new features, just copies of previous models but updated bodies from one kind (bar) to another (slider). Big Deal!!!
Unfortunately, SE refuses to make good "basic" phones anymore.
Feel sorry for SE, though, OK... maybe not so much, but SE actually deserves its fate since it did it to themselves but NOT making phones for the GENERAL public!
SE ARROGANTLY REFUSES to listen to consumers and makes phone to Their liking (examples included Not including 3.5mm ports, using the Fastport feature, making half-assed cameras and crappy media software for their phones)!
No wonder SE DESERVES to fail! Act very much like General Motors!
Maybe... SOMEONE in SE will listen and learn before it's too late!

boblex, 16 Jul 2009you are right. the w995 is the only se phone so far i have... moreexpect to see much more success from the w995 cos it's not even released all over the world. I live in australia & its said to be coming soon.

Sony Ericsson are really struggling an the C905 was a mobile they shouldn"t have released to early as loads turned out Faulty,the cost cutting ideas might might not be correct as the recent mobiles the C902 an K770i as the paint on these fascias comes of so easily reducing the value of the mobile the quick,so they better not keep making mobiles were the paint comes off or people will buy another mobile instead

i like the se k810i so much but i sold it after 6 months coz i cant stand the joystick anymore. i wish sony would make phones with new revolutionary designs such as sleek thin phones with full touchscreen, camera with at least a led flash, image stabilizer. and please change the style of texting and keypad more responsive. i hate the half second delay and the way how the little fonts appears on screen. avoid boxy designs anymore and squarish keypads!

When those other great SE phones have been released we should see improvement in the next couple financial quarters.

SE needs to have a comprehensive product portfolio in order to regain market share. They have to cover the low end right up to the high end at least that way, if one segement of the market suffers another segment covers it up. This is unlike the current scenario were it lacks solid low to mid end offerings and their high end offerings can't really compete against what it's competitors are offering. They should also drop M2 memory cards and adopt 3.5mm jacks across the board.
All this will take time and I believe SE is a write off for the next 3-5 years.

SE just give up! how the hell do u expect to gain any profit by increasing your loss margin? youl are half a BILLION dollars down! The new phones will probably be made of cheap materials and be just plain crap! hahaha i was never a SE supporter.

hi.. this is very sad as i am a huge sony ericsson fan and i don't know why they are not able to anything about it.. this just proves that now days brand is not everything and people are fine with changing the brand if it is offering something better.. i am very surprised at the Samsung and LG line up of phones as people may say what they want but they are giving huge competition to other companies and the way they are going they can beat nokia, sony ericsson, htc, blackberry and apple.. i still support sony ericsson and i am still going to buy sony ericsson phones but i feel bad because sony is such a huge name in the industry and still they are not able to anything about it and the worse part even apple knows that sony has the potential to beat any company they want.. i think they are being very rigid over certain things like they did with the walkman brand they refused to support mp3 format which made them lose the market share to apple ipod and when they realized it it was too late the damage had been done.. walkman players are soo much better than ipod but ipod became soo popular that it overshadowed every other brand.. i have 2 walkman players and my sister has a ipod nano and everyone believes walkman is much better than the ipod.. same with sony ericsson phones they still refuse to support 3.5mm jack (god knows why) and universal charger.. they keep ignoring the camera in the walkman phone and music feature in the cybershot phone and after soo many years they still dont have a good line up of business phones like the E series of nokia and they only have 1 business phone right now which is xperia x1 which i am using right now and it is a excellent phone but they should have a low range business phone, mid range business phone and a high end business phone just like e series.. just like n series they should have a low range all in one phone, mid range all in one phone and a high end and then only they can survive.. i know they know that but if they dont act fast i hate to say that(trust me) they will be history.. i only like sony ericsson and apple phones and i want sony ericsson to be NO.1 brand in mobile phones and they also know that they can be NO.1 they just need to be flexible, innovative, fast and listen to what the people say.. hope they get out of the mess.. I LOVE SE! SE RULES! SE 4 LIFE!

streamline their mid range 's products to :-
1) autofucus camera
2) build in GPS with preinstalled sofware like Garmin
3) Pricing again SE,learn frm Nokia,the nearest example : Nokia 5800.Nokia really bashed every brand in the market with their very competitive price.

The company would not today be in this predicament if it had decided to build upon its success of late 2006 and 2007 where devices such as the innovative K800i really excited customers. By choosing to sell cheap and low end devices rather than position itself as a quality innovator despite having the potential to do this it has made a big error. It now is excessively reliant on the success of one or two products and customer loyalty in order to grow again.

i think they have to change their fast port to standard usb and 3.5mm audio jack which are missing from most of their phones, even from their -yet to released- yari and aino. seriously dude, CHANGE!!

SE's new Playnow Arena is a joke!
Limited currently to a few countries with very few offerings in media and music!
Worse of all, it REFUSES to let people from other parts of the world buy anything if Playnow is not present. One can only buy in one's own country so can't really blame SE since it's probably Copyright Protection laws in effect!
Still, why have it when its launching to the public is so poor??
It surely will NOT upstage Apple's iTunes!!
