Their biggest problem was always maintaining a proper build quality. Self-shattering glasses, gaps near camera lens and around the screen... Other than that, good devices.

                  No market...no profit!!! Simple

It would be great if another Japanese company could buy Sony(but it's not probably).

It would perhaps surprise the market if Sony decided to engage in a joint venture. It did this in the past with Ericsson. It a shame if the decision is to sell its mobile division. As this article points out the company has argubaly produced some of the best Android mobiles on the market. And the fact that so many other manufacturers have opted to use Sony's camera modules on their own devices is recognition of the company's excellent technological prowess in technology.

Sony was/is one of the best companies to work for in the world. Yes the world is changing at a pace nobody can predict and the competition is strong and aggressive. And yes tough changes have to be made to manoeuvre the "boat" into the wind again. What you forget is that the "stupid pride " that your refer to is there , not only because of the great products that were produced throughout the years, but because of the "DNA" of the company and how it treated its employees through all these years and on how business has been conducted. The world can still learn from Sony's business principles and the honour in which business in conducted right up to today. Sony will make the changes necessary and then "rise" again in a different form, but in all of this can hold its head up high, which is more than many of it's competitors can say. Why? Because "its a Sony".

A company has to think about it's investors and sh!tty bosses and sh!tty management. Then thousands of hardworking employees get cut off just like that. They rely too much on the brand name that they forgot to think about the consumers first. Sony is also too afraid to invest in innovation that it relies too much on their own. They have not been open to REAL change! It's a new generation that people buy what they need not from brand perspective. Learn from Samsung, they still haven't figured it out yet or like you they still have too much pride.
