Anonymous, 22 Aug 2009If the 3GS can do it i don't see why the Toshiba TG01 can't... moreIt's not that anyone can't do it, it's why should anyone do it? This whole HD on your phone thing is unnecessary. "check this out man I can watch HD on my phone". "Yeah, and"? You're not accomplishing anything truly, just adding on another gimmick. I'm talking about all the phones that are trying this, and I can't wait to see Nokia dip their finger in this boiling pot of stupid add-ons. -.-
"HD on my phone....how can I further make myself look like a d-bag now"?

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2009A proprietary 30 pin dock which enables a LOT of functional... morewhy dont just use a HTPC then?
or a Revo?
why need something mobile(iphone), which when used limits mobility(battery life), plus something not really everyday mobile(dock) on something not mobile definitely(HDTV)

If the 3GS can do it i don't see why the Toshiba TG01 can't do it.
3GS has ARM A8 cortex @ 600 Mhz + SGX GPU
TG01 has Snapdragon ARM A8 Cortex @ 1000Mhz + ATi-based GPU
If the TG01 can't handle it im pretty sure the 3GS cant. I'm very skeptical about this handling 1080p thing.

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2009i cant find any reason why i want a HD playing mobile phone... moreA proprietary 30 pin dock which enables a LOT of functionality including the ability to handle the necessary bandwidth for functions like this.
Don't like it, no-one's forcing you to buy it.

kiff, 22 Aug 2009yeah and the battery will last about 1 hour. A real 'powerh... moreWhen you dock it to play it back on a TV it's plugged in and charging, the battery will last as long as you want.

People used to be sceptical about movie playback on PCs -- back when we had those ugly, boxy 14" monitors. And now you have 27" inch Full HD monitors... no reasons for phones not to undergo a revolution of their own.

Personally, I do think phones need good movies playback capabilities. Like, for camping, if you can't fall asleep in the tent. Or for long drives in the night where you're sitting next to the driver or laying on the back seat. Places you can't take your 98" inch plasma TV to...
The iphone is not a good fit though, due to it's narrow 2:3 aspect, smallish 3.5" screen, a piss poor resolution. There are much better choices for people interested in quality video playback on a phone, such as the Toshiba TG01 -- it's wonderful display makes it a better choice for web browsing and navigation as well.

honestly, i think this function is just for those people who has a 32gb iphone (because the 16GB was out of stock all the time), you know what apple is good for? not the product, not the service, they are good at turn a bad situation into an oppotunity, in another word "fooling their customers around".

After read all your comments, most people suggested that with this function, iphone can store and play HD movies through TV. but it just doen't make sense to me, where can you download those movies? itunes? or buy a DVD or blueray from a shop so you can really keep it, rather lose everything after you computer is cracked.

i had n95 for ever loved it. Slagged the iphone to death then got the 3gs.... Its simple to use and is extremly useful. The video is good and photos its all 1 click. nokia is like a pc constantly crashing and you really have to go a long round about way to get things done..i wanted the n97 but its the same old clunky crashin wont sync with mac device... The app store blows anything away. Seriously.. Sorry nokia i stuck up for you for so long and now you suck compared to iphone........blah

Bwahahahaha, suck it up Nokia fanboys your beloved phones just can't cut it when a real powerhouse comes to town.
Now for all you thickheads whining about how to use this, go to an Apple store they sell docks with a remote for controlling videos stored on your iPhone...
You got that bit yet?
Now you buy a component video out cable to plug into your big, widescreen TV, this cable also has a USB connector, what's that for you say...
...to plug into the charger while you're watching your TV.
Now the dock also has a 3.5mm audio out plug so you've got you picture via component, your sound via 3.5mm plug, the phone is also charging and the remote is controlling it.
Combine that with movie and TV show downloads direct from iTunes to the iPhone and you got one sweet package.
Cost with dock cables remote and everything around $100.
The ARM 8 is actually 833MHz underclocked to 600 combined with PowerVR SGX the 3GS has processing power to spare.
Harden up you sooks!

Love the duct tape on the photo. The phone has a bad shape, no kick stand or even a simple wrist strap hole. There are going to be some sore hands.

Brenda, 22 Aug 2009Hey, nothing wrong with being a Nokia, Samsung or Apple fan... moreYeh, right, I'm a NOKIA fan, but I also do respect other manufacturers if they produce worthy phones, and disrespect NOKIA if they produce crap phones!! There are fans who just says everything other than 'X' manufacturer's products are crap, those are not even worthy to have phones, or talk about them :D

So in truth, it can only handle 1080i (which is still good). Sounds like another false iPhone hype thread.

[deleted post]Did I say that I'm going to start hooking it up now? Do you understand simple english? How many times do I have to tell you that this is not an official iphone feature, because if it is, Apple themself will include all the necessary cables, or at least sell them at the Apple stores. Gosh, go get some basic education before you start arguing with other people.
