All this talk about N95 and A-GPS is just stupid, the N95 had A-GPS from beginning and it worked flawlessly on first firmware, but sure some people experienced problems made a fuss about it.

I am not iPhone fans, I didn't own as it is not what I want, I only have iPod touch because for me iPhone OS is for fun not for a proper business phone.
Off course, can't deny recently Nokia keep out similar phone with minor updates as well.

I said the iPhone OS 3.0 is more lagging than previous OS 2.0 or 1.0, I never said it is lagging all the time, what I mean here is the OS 3.0 is not coded well as it seems perform worst than OS 2.0

Besides what does it matter if i bought in the first month n95 was released.It was still the original firmware. You said it took 4 firmware updates for the gps to work well.
Completely untrue. 4 updates would have been ver 31. Mine worked well on the original firmware.

Mustafa, 23 Aug 2009I'm not a fan of the iPhone but the reason why so many peop... moreAs far as my comments on the N95 and it's GPS, that was in response to earlier comments on Nokia having GPS for years, it took quite a while for them to get it right.
Nokia even tried different software (Route 66) on the 6110 Navigator while they were refining Nokia Maps.
Working in a phone shop what seems to sell iPhone's is people seeing their friends with one, seeing how it works then wanting it.
The Apple marketing broke away from the usual phone ads by showing how easy the phone was to use, none of the usual poncy garbage of all this weird stuff happening because you had x-brand phone in your pocket.

iphone 3gs compared with nokia 5800 is like you compare a chevy camaro v8 with a boring correct volvo. iphone is more catchy,more exciting in every aspect

mustafa is right, iphone 3gs is a mature mobile with 3mp camera,vga video recording,gps,unique apple software wich is in fact the success of this mobile. And i can say more: iphone have the best audio output power thru headphone jack than ahy other mobile on the market today. it's sound is fantastic,like ipods. iphone 3gs is perfect

I'm not a fan of the iPhone but the reason why so many people use it is because 1.) Apple has amazing marketing and 2.) The phone is ridiculously easy to use and a wide support of users. Developers went crazy with making software for the iPhone, dwarfing symbian in terms of ease of use and availability. Sure Nokia had GPS in their phones before Apple, but they didn't let everyone know about it and they didn't make it easy for everyone GLOBALLY to have access to this GPS. They needed to market it better, it's as simple as that. A few fancy commercials go a long way, and Apple knows this, so they took advantage of it. I had an iPhone 3GS and it was a good phone. I still preferred my E71 at the end of the day but the one thing I can say about the iPhone was that jailbreaking it and putting cracked apps on the phone was easier than putting most things on an s60 device. As a side note, anyone who compares the 5800 to the iPhone is a fool, as the iPhone 3GS destroys it in almost every category. The iPhone 2g and 3g had their flaws with call quality and a whole list of other things, but software 3.0 plus the processing power and improved hardware of the 3GS makes the iPhone a good phone, FINALLY.

Hmmm, I like the Iphone. Had fun while it lasted. Yeah, I only borrowed it, lol.
What I don't like:
a. Money-mongering thru hype (c'mon, SJ, you can do better than that. $$$$$$$$$)
b. D.B. Apple fanboys
wonder what will happen if Nokia focuses on making 1 phone per segment (low end, mid range, XM, Nseries, touch)?

Furthermore, that the A-GPS firmware addition is light on your wallet with downloadable maps, and heavy on user-friendliness. I don't think he was downing the phone or anything like that.

If i would say that a certain phone released in 2007 had to use data and cellphone tower triangulation to get a very inaccurate rough position of where the device is, and a certain 2008 model from the same have no option of voice nav and had to wait for a year to do so, then some people here will say that im inviting flames. So lets not go to that, shall we? If u want to sell something or ideas, forward the positive values of the product u are promoting, not the negatives of the competing product.

hi, im the guy that wrote the long post to Brenda down there. I see theres some posts deleted, is that hers? Can anyone tell me what her concerns are about this time?
For Nokia Maps, there is a PC component/app called Nokia Map Loader that allows u to download the latest maps (that u need only) to your device from the internet. That way u dont even need wifi.
I kinda agree that one of the reasons i do not prefer Nokia maps is due to the limited use of voice nav and that u need to pay for further use after the initial 3 months. However the 5800 NAV gives free lifetime on OVI maps including voice and thats really great, value for your money. And the BUNDLED charger/car holder is neat too. Note that its BUNDLED.

I had such a good experience with my iPhone I bought a MacBook, it works flawlessy with it and is something to consider in future phone purchases.
Now mobile phones have moved on to A-GPS which uses wifi, phone towers and GPS satellites to determine a phone's position, such as when you are in a building and out of sight of the sky.
Having data linked to it increases the functionality as you can incorporate things like traffic reports, petrol pricing and more advanced searches such as for up to date parking information.
Although it's optional it works a lot better with it.
When the N95 was first released the GPS was hopeless it wasn't until around the 4th firmware update when they enabled A-GPS that it would give you a fast enough lock on to your position to make it useable, i.e. you didn't have to waste five minutes waiting for it to find you.
A lot of people seem to forget things like this, that and people running up large data bills because Nokia didn't preload the maps and they either came OTA or you had to download and install maploader and install them from a PC.
