ian, 23 Aug 2009just saw the youtube vid demo of the 5800 gps function...bu... moreI know, it's sad, but that's the way those companies are. They do have Multimedia Transfer for Mac, but it's not the same as having PC Suite, because you can't software update. But hey, it's always been like this. Even though they work together occasionally, Apple and Win don't click, and it's pretty obvious by reading the comments, as well as any other in this forum. I wish I had a solution to your problem. but I'm pretty stumped myself. As for a solution to these wackjobs and their constant trolling (Applying to fans of all phone companies), I don't have a clue...

Oh wait I know! some of these rules might clue people in.

Please no foul language (applies to me to, sorry for breaking that rule)
Be polite and use common sense (is it that hard?)
No bashing - deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand will get you banned (seriously Dani, have you no life..)
No trolling - deliberately antagonizing other brand/model users will get you banned (and then there's Brenda)

If you don't follow the above rules, your comment will be deleted.

A prime example if you look at the [deleted post] in most replies. Hope it doesn't go over their heads like all the other times..

Chrome coloured makes it looks tons better than the original noobish looking blue-black combination.

[deleted post]the 5800 xm, 5530 xm, and 5800 navi are almost similar to the 3 iphones. Similar style with different specs.

Stick to the iphone. nokia is too advance for you.

[deleted post].....They had a navigator in the 5800XM. I CLEARLY stated that.

"Granted that GPS was already on the XM, this version is updated..."

You can even check the specs on their page. GOOD GOD do you even TRY to read people's comments all the way through before you criticize them?! You don't need a data plan for their Navigator, because Ovi Maps has continent maps pre-installed and can update over Wi-fi (which you also obviously don't need a data plan for). I was simply trying to point something out about the name of a phone, and up comes Brenda thinking "Oh boy, this is another chance for me to make an ass of myself!". Just go back under that bridge you live in, you troll.

                [deleted post]Brenda,

-GPS does not necessarily needs a data plan. i think u must be talking abt google maps. Normal integrated GPS does not even need data as the maps is loaded on the memory card. For example Sygic, Garmin, TomTom.

-GPS is a system of satellites on earth's orbit which transmits its location on the sky to calculate the position of the device. I think there is no way for a country to 'does not support GPS'.

-I believe Nokia has GPS tech since quite a long time ago. While some phones are still trying hard to triangulate position using cellphone towers, Garmin and the big GPS companies were releasing software for use on Symbian

-a company exists to get profits, and Nokia has got a huge profit from the 5800XM. However, the 5800XM targets the younger, non-business centric age group. So they release another version with GPS-specific improvements and more serious look. Its choice of colours indicate this. Nokia has many models, and for each model they target a specific user group.

-I dont understand why someone should be sad when they already bought the 5800XM earlier. By the time this comes out, surely it would be more expensive than a 5800XM package. And if they dont want it an even cheaper alternative is 5530.

and here is a quote from u on another thread

"I agree with you. I personally, wouldn't even use my iphone, or any phone, for this purpose. It's just that there are iphone haters who just over reacts on anything good about the iphone. But then they're haters, so I guess that's just their nature =)"

my advice : Do unto others as you would have others do unto yo

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2009u may not use the GPS, but for 2nd hand market its a bonus.... moreYou are not getting the point my dear. Nokia could've released this phone along with the other ones so that you do not have to go through the hassle of reselling it after you bought it, and lose money. I have nothing to say about it's features because like I said, each phone caters to different people. It's the time interval when they release their phones that I am critiquing that they could improve on.

Nokia will be milking this cow longer than I expected. Giving gratis nav licence and a paint job is just genius, didn't see it coming even though this is what they do nowdays.

Andrew Tan, 22 Aug 20091st generation no 3G with OS 1.0 2nd generation add on 3G ... moreThe yearly upgrades to the iphone's hardware makes sense. It's not a new model they're releasing, but an improvement from the prior one. The differences on each iphone may only be one or two, but they make a big difference. Edge to 3g is a big difference. Tripling the processing speed and increasing RAM and even improving the touch sensitivity is a big difference. Those are not minor changes my dear. And you have to consider as well that with the iphone's firmware updates, all 3 iphones avail of it. If not, there would be a lot of differences between the three. What does not make sense is Nokia releasing similar phones within a year and just tweaking the features here and there, when they could've released all of those phones at the same time so that consumers would have the chance to evaluate all of them at the same time and make a better decision.

You complain about the iphone's touchscreen and lag in screen orientation and lag in opening apps? Tell me then, which phone does it better in terms of touch interface? Lol.

jack, 22 Aug 2009if this is really a so called "Navigation Edition" of the 5... moreBecause that's still what it is at heart, an Xpressmusic phone. It was released as one and it is still treated as such, only this time it comes with a better Navigator feature. Granted that GPS was already on the XM, this version is updated, and syncs better with the phone, hence the name sidename "Navigator Edition". Dropping the XM wouldn't be right.

Brenda, 22 Aug 2009Of course I make sense. What if I really have no need for ... moreThe person who posted above you is right. Its better to have 3g and gps then to not have it.If you didnt have it and needed it,you cant add 3g or a gps chip on your phone. Your argument fails once again.

You never see people getting upset when they buy a phone and a similiar phone comes out a month later with less features. You make no sense.

if this is really a so called "Navigation Edition" of the 5800, how could NOKIA be so careless to keep the name "XPRESS MUSIC" on the phone? Something like 5800 Navigator would've been more appropriate.

no way...typical for nokia. An that i hate that an "i" version comes up 6-10 months.
The "specs may vary" dont apply to nokia because they announce an improved models.
One more annoying feature is the recycle on theyr models.
Does enyone remember the original 6600 ("soap box"). The new 6600 is no where near an smart phone.
