03 April, 2015
The curved screen of the Galaxy S6 edge cracks due to its unusual shape, even if the phone survives.

In my own words. The s6 edge even suprises me that it could hold that much pressure and the glass cracked/broken but was still in place.A possibility was that since the glass was just attached to the metal body that if would bend the glass would have a space between the metal since again glass doesnt bend and aluminun does.Even i would expect the edge variant to be weaker since in terms of durability if force was applied since the metal chassis were thinner in the center compared to the M9 and ip6.The S6 edge is 50% thinner in the sides compared to the other models.

-And if one of you apple fans would have an argument with me and why im saving samsungs butt then dont.Im just saying the design is different and obviosly the edge varient with 50% glass sides are weaker in a test of strength in its center than a phone with bezels.

Insurance company usually pay the most attention, like IIHS, because they are the one that sell insurance service and have to pay if the phone breaks.

I'm not surprised. This is what happens with thin design. It's an insult for us long time Samsung customers like me who wanted the expandable memory, removable battery, all the performance and the structural strength of a Galaxy device.

I think I'll show Samsung my disgust by not buying any of its backward "innovation" dictated by following the "don't care-don't know" thinking customers of Apple.

So the fan wars continue. Its a pity how Sammy fanboys try to prove that they have 1850 cc of brain (than normal 1600) as they defend their brand. At least apple fanboys admit that they are more into brand-name, simple interface and smoothness rather than specs. Can't u all leave it to personal choices than claiming bigger brain volumes? And before u come running after me, let me tell u that I m a gs4 user. I love this phone, but hate sammy's n its fans' anti-apple nonsense.

"It bents"...well, if you're dumb enough to expose your $900 small electronic device to things that even a kid knows will damage it, chances are, the designers are not the ones with a problem on their hands.

This is really funny. It was funny when it first started with iPhone and now that it continue.

First of all, I feel people need to take care of their belonging. If they are careless and blame it on design saying that it bends when they sit on it, that's really stupid.

Glad that we are not seeing a comment or review that I sat on my iPad or laptop and it bend, its a design flaw..

If there is really a need to have bendable devices, wait for Samsung or LG or any other manufacturer to build them for you.

The test could have been more reliable if it was the regular S6. We all know the edge variant is about 7mm thick but only about 50% of that is metal/aluminum the other is glass. Iphone 6 + on the other hand, is 6.7 mm thick (S6: 6.88 mm) and it's all aluminum/metal. But the real situation was, IT BENT INSIDE THE POCKET. At this point I think the best that we can is to wait until S6/S6 EDGE owners will have same complaint before starting out WW3. But we also have to admit that S6 EDGE breaks more easily than the iphone 6+. LOL!

And Please... Dont arrange a party tonight ifanboys(and girls?? Whats a party without girls!!). Sure the other phones do break. But the story behind is different. 6+'s was clearly an engineering defect. When applied near the button, it bends. But m9 and s6E bends, but doesnt get deformed. I don't know about m9, but s6E's is clearly a limitation. Glasses, especially ones that are shaped can easily break.
Am not a fanboy, but SquareTrade should've chosen s6 instead of a niche device like Edge.

Nothing strange, the iphone soft material helped it last more pounds till break whereas the s6 harder material break when it reachs it flex limit
Well i think they should test the s6 regular version too

joe sHmoe, 03 Apr 2015Why use the edge variant on a bending test? its curved glas... moreRight? Not only will glass crack a these pressures because it's not flexible, but the edge is only going to be more prone because of its design. Its already bent. So you are bending bent glass another way and its just going to crack. Simple logic.

AnonD-375420, 03 Apr 2015Glass as a material cover the front and back Samsung's Edge... moreThe glass cracked because it's not flexible. But the device itself doesn't bend as bad and still worked fine.
What part of that are you incapable of grasping? There is only proving you wrong. But you will purposefully deny it and side track like always

Why use the edge variant on a bending test? its curved glass and so the point of breaking is just small compared to the s6 which has the position/placement of its bezels which apparently would increase its durability. :/

JD, 03 Apr 2015Actually, its Samsung who is naive because they said on Gal... moreAnd it doesn't. The edge which is an already bent device and because it's glass. So glass bent one way and also pressure bending another way cracked....oh my...that's shocking.

And that side tracks from what I called you out on. You claimed it would be worse if it was all aluminum which contradicts the facts and reality that glass will crack sooner because its not flexible and that the metal Samsung used is tougher. So it would hold up better.

And still nothing on how much tougher s6 is with drop tests?
