Samsung Galaxy Note5 and S6 edge+ found to aggressively close tasks in the background

24 August, 2015
This behavior is similar to the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge even though the Note 5 and edge+ have 4GB RAM.

Same problem in Galaxy Note 4 also, having 3GB of ram but still can't keep the opened apps for a while is something showing very bad ram management in samsung devices.Besides system itself taking almost 2 gb of ram so Samsung has fix this problem at the earliest.

Maybe the S6 edge+ is in power saving mode, doesn't download that much whenever the app is in idle.

This is the same reason my Nexus 6 runs circles around my Note 4, both have the same hardware, TW is a resource hog, and the Note 5 doesn't fare any better, did Samsung really think by adding more ram it would fix the issue. If Samsung has their way their phones would be running Tizen, there is a reason Google had issues with Samsung's skin a few years ago, and told them to tone it down, it just makes Android look bad, which is not the case, for the people thinking this is how Android really runs,I suggest they grab a pure Android device and see how smooth and fat Android really is.Running Android on a Samsung device is like attaching a parachute to a world class sprinter.

Well, it does make difference if you were playing a game and went to check txt massage or something, and you come back and the game has to restart!!!

Just root, and increase the heap size, and decrease the free memory requirements. Almost all modern Android phones have too much power that goes unused if you don't root them and fiddle around the system settings.

AnonD-187336, 24 Aug 2015It's called, battery saver. why why the galaxy s6 than has a bad battery life? ok, its not bad but its not one bit better than a xeria z3 would be with 2500mah battery capacity and the z3 keeps much more in the ram.

Anonymous, 24 Aug 2015It's the Exynos processor, it has alwayd been a nit laggy, ... morethis is not even a processor task, it is mainly a RAM task to bring the apps as they were frozen before. you probably have a snapdragon 810 phone, hence the hate.

It's the Exynos processor, it has alwayd been a nit laggy, look at the devices that came with both versions, Snapdragon and Exynos, and thw Exynos ones were laggy, always! My guess is it is due the changing between the cores....

i am sure moto g will beat S6 edge+ or note 5 in the same test ;-)

even tons of RAM won't help samsung ..

As a test perhaps someone somewhere sometime will compare Samsung Android (aka TouchWiz) on the S6 edge+ with pure Android on another S6 edge+ - and let us know if pure Android is better.

Thats exactly the same than my galaxy s6 does, I mentioned this earlier on other topics on gsmarena and samsungfanboys that doesn't even own the galaxy s6 were laughing at me...
The worst time was, when Samsung decided to handle the Google launcher I am using as a fast to kill application, I had some weeks in which I had more launcher reloads than I had in my whole mobile phone history before. After a software wipe the launcher is better now, that means only two reloads per week. Two too much for a 3gb of ram flagship device...
All in all the galaxy s6 is NOT a fast phone at this point of software version, I am running the latest 5.1.1 which is likely mostly the same than the note and the s6+ are running.
The nexus 5 with really old hardware I have as a comparison is faster in most of daily use..
But I guess saung fanboys will still not believe me no matter how many video.proofs of Samsung's memory management exists...
