This 6 gb ram may not be for the ordinary phones used by consumers. And also it could for other devices of future. In near future all the devices we use at home will be connected to Internet. Thats what Internet of Things (IOT) is all about. So just think beyond smartphone folks.

why so less?? i expected sammy to come up with more like 8gb after 4 n then 16 then 32,64,128,256,512,1024 n the life goes on until the whole world is occupied inside the smartphone ;) #trollsammy

Out of 6 GB Ram, 5.25 GB will be occupied by TouchWiz. And only 750 MB will be available for the users. That too with poor Ram management, proper multitasking will still be a dream for Samsung mobile users.

Its funny when people dont think further than the reach of their nose. These are faster and less power hungry. That means more raw performance and longer battery life. You also dont need to use 4 of these chips. 3GB is pretty much and popular, so you could use 2 of these instead of 4 of the old 6Gb or 3 of 8Gb that are used today. You could also use 3 for 4.5GB, which is more than the flagships today. All while saving space and power and getting more performance.

Phones are slowly catching up PC's. I had only 8 GB about 3 years ago, not too long and phones are going to have more than that. Now just increase built-in storage as well, 64 GB is the minimum (for me, without card slot) as I don't like to stream music.

Dear Samsung,
Instead of wasting the precious time and spending Million's of Dollars on unwanted ( For near Future) technologies, please give back what you have taken like removable battery( or at least increase battery capacity) and SD Card expansion from your "SO CALLED FLAGSHIP DEVICES", Without which Lot of your loyal customers are bidding good bye to your devices and start looking for alternatives.

With all due respect for Android users why iPhone rans well with just 1gb ram..does Android really need 6gb of ram? Is just the ram management they should focus not buy increasing the RAM!!

Every year companies make improvements on tech. When new phone released in my country it starts with almost same price every flagship. Then they drop prices after new flagship of their own or other companies. When we pay same prices why we do not want new tech and more speed, more capacity, power efficiency, less heat ... and why you all think about phones.
"Samsung also expects that due to the exceptional benefits of its LPDDR4 mobile memory, application areas will expand beyond smartphones and tablets to include ultra-slim PCs, digital appliances and automotive devices, in the coming years."
Same thing with screens. Samsung has good battery life with 2K screen. I think Sony can make same with 4K. Maybe they cant make with Z5 Premium (Its first and not tested). Their 2nd phone will have good battery life.

But... why? This is more RAM than my laptop. And my laptop is a lot more resource intensive and functional than a smartphone. This much RAM in a phone is a sign of a problem.
