SE needs to make an affordable android phone for the mid-range market, for eg. something to compete with the 5800 pricewise, but with a 5MP camera and good video recording. If they continue over-charging for their phones, they won't survive. How come its taking them so long to realise this?

SE phones with good features are just too expensive for a person with an average income to buy. I hope SE would come to its senses and use the marketing strategy of Samsung and LG.Also SE phones take a long time after their announcement to be released so by the time they are released, consumers already bought other phones or the specs are no longer top-of-the line as competitors have already come out with better specs. Also, low-range and mid-range SE phones have almost similar for factors so users are not easily inclined to upgrade their phones.

there's really no point in them making anything good. it doesn't matter if they have a 20 megapixel cameraphone because they will overcharge and they won't have any consumers...sony still hasn't learned from over pricing on the satio and now theyre planning to charge almost 1000 dollars on the X10 which is ridiculous. sony should get ready for more losses. if the X10 doesn't come out for less that 650, they're going to have more losses.

Keep wining about SE and their products, and this will not change anything. SE will rise again just give it some time. And please don't compare a loser like moto to SE. I know moto are getting back but they were sleeping for a long time. But SE never slept and even when they are struggling they still are offering us the best like, X2, X10, Satio, Aino, robyn and the coming vivaz.
For all you people who are waiting for SE to stop well I really pitty you and think you are pathetic because this will never happen.
SE= make.believe

Give us SD cards, 3.5mm jack, USB chargers, wifi with decent music and camera PLUS a reasonable price.. I'm sure SE will be back again. It's better to have sold million units of low-mid range phones for a cheaper price. Than having to sell thousand units of high-end priced phones.

SE can now be compared to Motorola. The only difference if that Moto realized their errors, & fixed them.
SE really has some great designs, & I like how they cater to all users of just about every OS there is. They simply think that if they price their new mid, & high-end devices extremely expensive, then that will bail them out of their quarterly losses.
Quite the opposite is happening. The economy is rough right now, & $1000.00 for a phone (X10), & $700.00+ (X2), is just too much money for the average consumer to fork over, when they can get a better speced device for hundreds less.
They stuck with the M2 cards & the fast-port for way too long, & released mid range devices with no auto-focus or flash. They announce a device as much as six months or more before it is released, & by the time it is eventually released, it is already outdated.
Sony is an arrogant company, & they refuse to think anything is wrong. I guess time will tell.

SE's time was when they introduced the K750 and K800 - revolutionary camera/mp3 phones at great prices. But somehow they focused mostly on the W series... which aren't that special anymore - every phone is a music player. Despite the old P series, now they are behind on the touch screen market. Why buy rebranded HTC from SE, when you ca buy real HTC? They need something unique and class leading. One such thing could be a real cameraphone - with large sensor. Sony have some very nice slim compact cameras - the Т series for example. SE just need to grab one, put large touchscreen on it, make it a gsm with gps, wi-fi and !3.5mm audio port! and they will have their miracle.
But somehow I feel that Samsung will do it first :)

Niceee, I'm now purposely NOT goin to buy X10 JUST to see this company fail, and go bancrupt!!!!
I also CAN'T wait for retired Apple company to vanish from this world - they do not deserve to live!!!
The less companies = less choices for us to make imo!

Hopefully, SE will think about their pricing strategy again. To stay in the game, they can at least make some cheap-ass phones like the crappy Korean phones (Samsung, LG, etc - did they ever come up with something new? But people buy their stuff simply because those are cheap)

For god sake Sony really need to kick Ericsson out they are bunch lazy stupid pigs don't know what they doing...
Due date, quality, all screwed up. We want reliable outstanding product which Sony has been offering for generations, Ericsson was a failure of the millennium I still don't understand by Sony would buy a company like this.
And again GSMArena hates SE.

SE should change their marketing strategies! One factor why they failed to hit the market is because their units are SO EXPENSIVE and they LIMIT the capabilities and features! SE shouldn't be reluctant just because they carry the SONY name on their products! Sorry, nowadays common people are wise and even the average people are more wiser now.
People nowadays are practical and wise enough in buying what they need and want. I used to be a #1 fan of SE but when Nokia started to market their units at low cost without compromising the features and capabilities that we look for, my loyalty turned practicality.
On a personal note, the money I earned and worked-hard for should be equal to a unit that will compensate my hardships. I don't know if SE knew about this sentiments of the common people, I hope they are. Practicality wise, we, the common people are looking for a mobile phone that would replace our iPods, MP3 players, Digital Camera, CamCorders, etc. because mainly we are looking for 1 device which all of these gadgets are rolled into 1!
One good example is the Nokia N95 and SE K850 - comparing the 2 units, the only downpoint of Nokia N95 is the "Xenon Flash" but the price of Nokia N95 is on justice side comparing to SE K850. The upcoming SE Vivaz, it's a 3G unit but NO front camera for video calling. The SE Satio, should have the 3.5mm jack and the mini usb port but SE limited it.
SE should NOT limit us if they really want to hit the market. They should set standards on their units multimedia capabilities and features. Today social networking is on trend and we are looking for units that would help us keep on track of our social networking activities.
Here in the Philippines, if you really want to hit the market I suggest have this standards on your upcoming units:
- Xenon Flash with Video LED light capabilities
- 5MP camera and up
- VGA 30FPS with image and video stabilization
- Camera lens cover
- 3.5mm audio jack with TV-out functionalities (please don't use your own headset port because they are big and crap and too expensive for replacement)
- powerful stereo speakers same as Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
- micro usb for data transfer and charging
- all connectivity options WiFi, bluetooth, 3G, HSDPA
- for all your 3G units should have front camera and should have the capabilities for front camera image and video capture
- hotswap microSD
- make your LCD screen bigger enough 2.6" please
- web browser with full flash support
- long battery life please
- user-friendly firmware updates and free softwares
- N-gage like games on your units
- 3rd party software support
- lastly, support for Symbian OS!!! why??? because this is the OS that we used to grow with using Nokia units!!!
- if possible also - DivX and Xvid support
- please be reasonable enough on your pricing!!!
With all the said capabilities and features, Nokia would FADE and SE will definitely hit the market here in the Philippines and will be the best choice for the common people..
