man u all sound too unrealistic,im not fans of one of those phone maker company, im just an ordinary phone user who love affordable hitech phone and gadget,in the end of it u r all just phone user,so be realistic.
im a proud owner for SE k750,w810,m600,nokia n78 5800xm and samsung omnia and iphone.and i think SE mistakes are
- their traditional fastport for data, headset and charging really reduce anyone interest for using their phone, its anoying to carry many different charger, data cable and headset.
- their none smartphone phone are so expensive, megapixel??every company around this day can beat that easely.nokia 5800xm have the bad camera and it still sold like peanuts.
- their nonstandart memory stick, bad Customer support, bad firmware support and bad online apps shop.
- no investment on research for OS,motorola almost crumble but they make a smart move with android.SE? just megapixel thingy and soundchip? hey, nobody use their phone only for shooting pic and listen mp3 anymore.i even hope i can use my phone like a victorinox.
- the company always lose to others not because the phone style or design but because in the same segmentation other company sold their phone more cheaper and affordable.for example the x10 only comes with class 10 gprs??same as my SE m600i from 2006, my 5800xm have class 32.no secondary camera for vid call?? SE could not compete with their currently phone concept and plans, today ordinary phone user like me dont care with label,i hate nokia phone once but im using 5800xm now, iphone fill like toys, omnia just to complicated for daily uses,SE phone just not suited for my needs anymore,my m600 cannot handle long email,w810 only serve for mp3player and radio, and TV-out?even experia dont have TV-out for my presentation purpose.man SE just history now because their fail in strategy and too expensive on price tag.they just can't see what the user demand and needs.
hope SE history will not become like the siemens sad story.
siemens made the same mistakes as SE today.
bye-bye SE i think i will never buy ur phone anymore unless u make a good gadget with a resonable price.

Is not the technology does not exists, like multi-touch the problem is the patents they have to pay to sell the phones. well this is my opinion.
how to manage to have the same technology without infringing patents, that is the question.
There is to many battles about patents.

That information definitely seems to be correct buthard enlightening as SE has been diggin in their own grave for the last few years. After the success of their walkman and cybershot lineup, all they did was better the cameras and increase the prices, give newer walkman chips. The interface and operating system has seen little change giving sort of like souls to ALL theor phone models from the cheap W350 to high end C902/903 and so on. Can someone explain why? Its called complacency. SE believed people will keep buying their outdated phones no matter what they made. They tried to come with Aino and Satio when they saw the sales dipping but the little time they invested compared to a Nokia that put so much time on an N97, they made a buggy device.
Sony need to bide their time and rethink their strategy. We do not need identical looking h/s with better specs only. Give us OS, maybe an Android, give us navigaion and give us a very smart phone at a reasonable price.
People no longer buy phones just for their camera or music when there is little else you can do with their phones.
Even moto once did the same thing and see where they are today (atleast in India)
Cmon Sony, buck up.

SE 2010, 22 Jan 2010By the way guys I advice you to read the whole link to be i... moreYou need to close the lid on your Sony Vaio and pour the Sony juice down the sink.
Sony is bleeding as a company. The only positive news they had in the last 2 years is Blu Ray won the war. Sony TVs are now #3 in market share behind Vizio and Samsung. They lost tremendous market share to Microsoft and Nintendo since the PS2 died out and companies moved onto the next generation of gaming. Saying SE is putting all its hopes on X10 is a GSMA bad joke because that is not going to save a company. Motorola is heavily invested in Android and it seems to be paying off with a wave of mid ranged phones coming out in 2010. The answer is to push out nice mid ranged phones and budget phones. The high end phones are to generate buzz and if you are lucky they will make good money.

SE has poor after sale customer service, thus they almost have no idea about the recent trends and demands of customers.they think ppl will buy anything they come up with ,but they forgot loyalty demands consistent output.SE clearly came up with some buggy handsets during the last couple of years ,so they lost a huge amount of loyal customers.so they are now losing.moreover, the thing they dont wanna understand is majority of ppl cant afford their expensive buggy handsets so they go for more reliable yet less expensive handsets which they can use for a reasonable period.so SE itself did this to the company.

[deleted post]Very informative comment there, but not constructive. Anybody here agrees that SE makes excellent designs. I think they do. Comes second only to Nokia.
I think they should relax "at home" for a few years, think where they are going and where they should go and then come back with some excellent feature phone.
Right now SE is just bettering hardware, and piling them up with software. Atleast first see if anybody actually want or would like to want something like that.

SE will survive ONLY IF they are not OVERpricing their handsets. sheesh. I'd love to buy a Satio or even Aino but the selling price isn't worth it. too bad for you SE, i already bought an LG phone. :)

The SE upcoming X10 is too little to late. I was going to buy the X10. However, the X10's long delay, outdated Android operating system, SE's poor record of firmware updates and customer support and now the realistic possibility SE may go under is just too much. I just bought the Nexus One!

Jorjy27, 22 Jan 2010Sony should start something different. I mean something dif... moreWRONG. Sony should not launch another OS.
We already have iphone, bada and android wanna-be OSes that are mockup OSes.
The current tendency is for vertical integration and making OS and tools so that the developers can deploy with ease on multiple platforms.
Look at android? it's "based on linux" = it's a dumbed down linux with crippled compatibility.
iPhone os, based on an already dumbed down version of UNIX.
The only thing that keeps this isolated platforms alive is a masive cash influx in advertising.

Sony should start something different. I mean something different like bada os of samsung. It will never bring any change if sony continues their walkman and cybershot. So it's time to be changed sony. And one thing... Sony should decrease their cellphone's price and they should change their user interface. Best of luck :-)

Sony Ericsson have caused there own downturn by the Quality of the Phones an Fascias they put on there mobiles, the value of there mobiles drops so quick because the paint or naming peels off there mobiles all the time, look at the C902 an that phone might have been good camera mobile but everyone of mates phones looked as though it had been stood on washed as the fascia quality was disgusting, then the C905 how many off these mobiles had faulty speakers on them an o.k another good mobile let dowm by Sony Ericsson, they started with there fauty joysticks on the K750i an K800 an people looked elsewere instead of purchasing another Sony Ericsson mobile, now look at the Satio shops stopped selling it because of the faulty software, because of the name Sony they think that they can release any mobile an it will sell well but this just shows what they have got a lot to do before they deserve the good name in the mobile market

If they put all their hope into the X10 then they better make it US AT&T 3G frequencies and price it less than $600. Other than that, i hope it doesn't sell because who the hell wants to use T-Mobiles 3G?!
