Why do you need Symbian on a cheap phone??! You buy a low-cost phone because you don't need camera, WiFi, E'Mail client etc. This is not a great phone. The design is horibble!!

I am curious as to why many people do not seem to realise that Symbian S40 (ie.Symbian 40) and Symbian S60 (ie.Symbian 60) are both products
from Symbian. Where is the difficulty ?

Great little phone from Nokia. Low cost, feature rich with lots of metal :) Compare this phone with other phones in this low price bracket with rubbish build quality and plastic every where. This will be a winner! Just look back at 6230i and 6300 which were both amazingly sucessful. Excellent design for the market segment it's aimed at :)

Oh come on, Symbian on S40? Why don't Nokia take time to upgrade what was S40 has left. I'm sure many would buy this Nokia C5 coz its in the Symbian OS. But in my point of view, Symbian is in the smartphone category OSes, S40 ain't. S40 targets lower and middle class markets and clearly doesnt benefit the smartphone features of Symbian at all, economy-wise.
I would like to see more on S40, like touch screen, qwerty pads, multitasking et al, but not this kind of upgrade.
One last thing, reviving classics is not good, look what have Nokia done on 6600, turning it to a one-piece-of-crap-slidephone.

By now, we can say that Nokia Mystics with QWERTY keyboard which was earlier leaked and has the same control button design with C5 is also confirmed, most likely to be announced during MWC 2010.

so many geezers complaining on something they wouldn't be buying anyway. not everyone is swimming in cash. if you want others to buy what you want, share your blessings then. but i doubt you would, anyway.
and oh, labelling non-high end phone users as cheapskates is just plain retarded. try to live in a country where your life is worth less than your gadget. flaunt it in public. see the result. :) cheers.

I would personally buy my little sis this who find fun playing gba games on an emulator.

I do purchase other phones every now and then to see how they work. At times, I find they have some great features ie ease with which an iPhone can add pictures, music, and applications. at other times I find the upgrades are actually less than welcome. ie a modern photo viewer that mixes folders such that naked pictures of current girl friend are intermixed with the rest of my photos.
what I have found is that any pure touch screen phone (no buttons) do not work for me. unluckily, there is very little developement occurring in the more traditional phones.
With regards to this article; I'm thinking my next phone will be a nokia e55 as I will be forced to become familiar with S60 soon enough. the half qwerty keyboard has promise & free GPS navigation software that doesn't insist upon over the data downloads is very appealing.

1. buttons are always more practical than touch screen.
2. not all the phones need to be high end, most people buy a phone just to talk on it. don't forget about company phones, that need to be cheap and reliable.

That people want simple ordinary phones that they have been used to for years.. The thing is.. Times change.. Things move on and get better and better.. If people took the time to learn a new system instead of being stuck in there ways of doing things they might just find them better. Smartphones can be great.. You can do more things, simpilar than ever before.. Just take the time to learn to use them. You might just like it!

+, i dont like to text messages on a touchscreen, its boooooring and with a "button" phone i can do it without even looking at the keypad :)
