Editorial: Samsung, sort out the GPS and Bluetooth on the Galaxy lineup

25 October, 2015
I am an avid phone user, but I don't need that much from a device. That's the reason why throughout the last couple of years I am mostly using a current-gen iPhone as my primary device. But I always try to stay in the Android and Windows loop, so I often experiment with my secondary smartphone.

I've had 11 Android phones in the last 4 years and I'm yet to have any problem even similar to those.
GPS lockup from cold start and no A-GPS active is generally slow but I'm yet to see a phone or tablet of any brand and OS not to have this issue. With A-GPS on, even my terrible HTC Wildfire was pretty quick and quite accurate at what it did.

Personally I'll assume it might be related to your location, or coverage, or possibly a lot of wireless connections jamming the signal (I'm no expert so just throwing those out here)...have you ran any GPS test tools? How many satellites cover your area, how good is the signal strength, how long has this been happening? Anyone else in YOUR AREA having this problem? That might be a thing to mention when writing articles like this one.

Just to point out what I've personally went through:
              Samsung: Galaxy S1 GT-i9000, Galaxy S2 GT-i9100
              HTC: Wildfire, Desire, Desire HD
Nexus: One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5
              LG: Optimus G

Seriously GSM Arena writers, no clue what you're doing lately, but it seems like very lazy writing - not that much research, poor detail and a lot of it seems like click-bait. This didn't used to be the case for GSM Arena, get your heads together!

The S2 was slow to lock my location, but I did not have any problems with the other 2...

I honestly don't know how bluetooth ever took off; even in pre-smartphone days it has never, ever, even once worked without hiccup for me. Whether it be having to re-pair on every single use, devices not detecting each other under any circumstance or supposedly supported functionality not working it is a nightmare. Every. Single. Time. I now flat out refuse to use anything via bluetooth and if that's a product's selling point I will ignore it entirely.

To go off topic here a bit the same can be said for plugging in devices to a computer via USB as anything other than mass storage. The real reason I lament the ever declining support for microSD cards is not because internal storage is insufficient but because it is the most reliable way to get anything off the phone. Sure, I can use the cloud but that's 2 lots of syncing and some of my valuable mobile data consumed.

I can understand the adage of "it just works" helping sell apple's products because these things really should, however even that I find to be an exaggeration if not outright fallacy! That being said on every phone I've had (including a couple of samsungs) the GPS has always exceeded my expectations and makes me wonder how makers of just SatNav devices are still in business.

I have been enjoying Samsung phones since the original galaxy s. since then I have used galaxy s3 mini, galaxy s4, galaxy A8 and I have never had bluetooth issues with both my car and my accessories and it detects my city fine. the GPS is also fast. many of my colleagues and friends report various bugs but I have never seen Bluetooth or GPS related problems and from the comments section It will be fair to say galaxy phones don't face connection problems. so through the process of elimination I can deduce that the problem lies with your car and your watch so just try another car and watch to see if it's your watch or car if that doesn't work then you must be a genuinely unlucky person.
ps next time your phone has a problem go to the service Centre and not write an article on it.

Its a bit suspicious how you end up getting all the bad Samsung devices. Do you actually buy original ones? :P
Jokes apart, I have owned Samsung Wave, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and now using Galaxy S6 but never got such kind of issues. You just need to bring this article to Samsung's notice, they'll surely help you some way or other as too much negative reputation for them is being built otherwise.
