First Symbian^4 demo videos spotted, innovations missing

26 February, 2010
A few weeks back there were some speculations about Symbian's future but as it seems, Nokia aren't keen on leaving the most popular smartpone OS in the mud. Instead, Symbian OS is on its way to a total...

Well, still not good enough, unless until Nokia makes MAEMO instead of symbian, the main stream OS for their touchscreen phones. Symbian in touchscreen is a major flop by nokia. Their sales significantly dropped in the last quarter. MAEMO on N900 is something that promises a future for nokia. I believe Maemo can take Nokia UP on again.

I am ammazed at the swiping at each other even from "Balanghoy" taking a swipe a my comment. My comment on Android, iphone, Mo7, and Symbian was my collected thoughts after talking to a number of operators and users (young and old) around the world. In the end I am not really concerned or even take notice but just pointing out the immaturity of some comments.

Freedom of speach means I can make a personal observation of the future which may turn out to by right, wrong or a hybrid however it is just that, my personal observation based on a very wide study. Being a wide study does mean it will become true but has a higher probability of becoming true because it is based on other peoples belief of what is important to them in their buying behaviour.

Yes Symbian has a large market share but so did the horse and cart before the car came along, voice calls before sms came along, desktops before laptops cam along etc. History shows time and time again although some ideas and brands raise the benchmark or create new and better ways of doing things they never last forever and more importantly have not shown in history to retain market dominance forever as they eventually become to big and self important and new entrants who 'listen' effectively to the outside world and 'real' customer end up taking share from large incumbents.

Symbian is against the ropes but not out for the count, yet! Symbian changed the world via Nokia and raised the benchmark for all phone manufacturers by going from tree menus to icons menus just like Windows 3 was changed when Apple introduced 'click' icons rather than having to type DOS code.

Symbian will continue market share in the low to medium market share as they will sell the same phones to low value customers in a number of developing countries which of course out number the developed and higher percentage educated poplulations by two to one. Symbian has also allow the OS to become free and be open.

Over time more and more people will move to capacitative touch screens because of the user friendly nature. Yes it is only early days for Andoid, iphone and Mo7 compared to Symbians history but the same things said about Andoid, iphone and Mo7 immaturity and early lack of features were said about Symbian 10 years ago?

It is important we all use this site to convey our thoughts based on 'learned' , 'open' beliefs and not fanatical personal beliefs like baracking as that their football team is the best based on very narrow facts...

Lets move forward and keep the blogs informed and innovative and not personally attacking others thoughts...

Have they got transparency yet, like the iPhone of 2007?

Kinetic scrolling etc, etc and anything else Nokia can rip off from the best.

tell that to the author of this article. why was microsoft still able to come up with an innovative UI design then? are you so blinded by your love with your beloved brand that you fail to see proof that symbian is already lagging?

nokia can sell many phones with symbian-1

Before u berate bout android OS wud be the leader in Smartphone OSes they wud take the crown from nokia as the leading manufacturer of smartphones. How wud i say.40%market share..besides S60 is d cheapest OS yet it packs superfine features.there are functions in s60 that are lacking in ur Android/Mac OS.no need for iphone to hire engineers fr nokia or SE.coz they r fond of stealing sum1s idea..

here just a begining to develop better Symbian OS. Anyway from video i c that Symbian 3 or 4 almost identical to Android.

                                    Symbian OS Finnish Co.,
                                    Android OS American/Jewish Co.

thytt, 26 Feb 2010There are elements from Maemo. Clearly multi tasking was so... morefinally you understand about the interface
wow that's somewhat the first person to mention other then me that iphone OS is ment for the dumb and non smartphone users hense it's not a smartphone

the primary reason i love symbian of it's complexity
i don't want a silver spooned OS i want something that i can learn and teach or show to others
i've helped out 100s of new symbian users this past month with tidbits like multitasking and they all thanked me for it
and the facts it's so easy to do ....why would i not show them

                                        menu/home button FTWin

what would you be able to share with the iphone's OS........"oh have you jailbroken your phone yet, it makes the phone better or have downloaded that apps yet......"

sorry iphone users their is no app to for you to use your common sense and how to learn
