So Apple finally came out with voice dialing last year with the 3GS. So what?! I used voice dialing for the first time about 6 years ago. Apple late again??? Not. What is the point of voice dialing if every person other than Americans have to change their accent to "American english" to get it to work properly for every phone out there? Apple no video calling?!?! I have travelled to many countries over the past 10 years and have seen perhaps 1 person use it. I have only used it twice in my life and I have had 4 phones that has supported it. So what if only 1 out of every 10 000 people want it? does it make it a necessity to say "my phone can video call", where most people would never use it even if they had it? Multi-task? Even the new HTC desire needs an APP to be downloaded to close down background applications and release the cache due to it slowing down and crashing. Apple? Selective muti-tasking so no crashing. But of course we like phones that can do way too many thing and crash. So why if Apple is so crap, does every touchscreen phone get compared to it? Nobody sees any phone other than iPhones on the Apple category of this site's pictures, yet you see iPhones everywhere else. Believe it or not, Apple has done a damn good job catering for their most relevant market and then following through with OS updates to cater further to other markets as the Iphone officially got sold in those markets. Apple has still sold the most "smart phones" of a single model than any other manufacturer? You call this dumb luck? I have an iPhone and am considering changing to the HTC Desire. I am however damn sure that if Apple stays true to it's standards, it would be my biggest mobile regret come June/July and the new iPhone HD.

aWww I guess an apple hater is jeleous though I m a andoid fan but I still have the iPhone coz not man android phones launched in India n those are , are very expensive + what I like about apple is uniformity i use a Phone atleast for 1.5 yrs but android phone may be get outdated 2 months after launch n there are few phonEs which hav been launched not so long ago but they are outdated like moto cliq or htc tatoo magic g1 even the hero even the desire will be forgotten after launch of evo4g n incredible n sooo on I m waking for a bench mark phone like the n1 which the manufacurer will take good care of.... But apple are not like that they don't dicriminates among the buyers they treat all as 1
other companys are screwing the consumers with so many phone if I buy a phone today they may launch a better phone tomorow for the same price n my phone will labelled obsolete n forgotten
I have tracking all andorid phones since Jan n have seen many being launched n the dissappeared a week later from htc Motorola samsung n even lg I feel sad for those buers who hot these phones
I hope google doesn't launch 2.2 soon n if it does atleast it be final for a long time I hate it when google doesnthis 1 day u get a phone with 2.1 n the next day 2.2 is out n by the time unget 2.2, 2.3 is out

Htc will always be last coz with every update they have to revise their sense ui to make it run on the new version of the os
I like what Microsoft is doing n bringing uniformity among their products I just wishcthey make an os a little flexible n easy to build apps on like android and uniform n same for all like iPhone
                  best of both worlds
to all those who hate apple please be rational without iPhone there wouldn't be any good smartphone

Tansen, 06 Apr 2010Not everybody buys apple products because of the apple logo... moreI'm sure they can make something from poopoo and people will still buy it. I don't deny the success of apple, but people need to get off the high horse and understand their is something outside of apple. I say this without offending the true users of apple, but most people who use the apple machines (macbook, imac, etc etc) because they failed at windows. when I say they failed at windows is that they didn't have that knowledge to protect their system. It's truly not rocket science to protect a system. Now, there are people who use apple for digital editing, photo editing, movie making, and I give kudos to you, because you are utilizing what those great programs were made for, not just taking pictures and deforming your face because it's fun.

as for the iPhone, Yes, It is a phone so simple that even a baby that was just born can use it, but what fun is that if you can't personalize the UI. or even having background widgets running so you don't have to open apps just to check the weather or something.

I bash the iPhone purely because of the idiots who insist that apple is the best platform EVER and there is no exception to this rule. so *bleep* you apple fanboys!

Could I be the first Android user who doesn't get angry with Apple and realise they did a good job with the iPhone but its not really my thing. To be truful nobody really knows what the new iPhone will contain so why does everybody get so angry i am interested to see they do. Till then I will wait for my Htc desire to come through the post.

Look, most of the comments here are just plain stupid. Everyone dissing the iPhone is just as bad as an Apple fanboy.

Personally I don't like Apple 'closed' way of working and would never buy their products...but when I go and buy my HTC Desire next week I'll be thanking Apple for moving the game on because without them the Desire would not exist.

The point is you don't have to buy it or like or whatever...but you cannot dispute that they changed the game and benefitted ultimately all the people like myself who appreciate open source gadgets.

It's the same with the iPad, for me it's useless. But you have to realise the sheer userfriendliness appeals to people who don't do 'tech'. I'd recommend it to my mum with no problems. And I'll sit back and see what all the other manufacturers do because again if you are interested in tablets running on Android etc you should be thanking your lucky stars for the iPad because everyone else will up their game.

Seriously, think before you write guys.

Everytime gsmarena puts out an article about apple, everyone either bashes or cant get enough of sucking apples "sack." All mobile devices have their strengths and weaknesses. There are things apple does better than nokia, there are things htc does better than apple, there are things samsung does better than lg, so on and so forth. Then theres sony ericsson.....no comment. Is the iphone literally dead simple to use? yes! Does htc make a more inutuitive more innovative ui than apple? Yes! Listen no company is perfect when conjuring these incomplete mobile devices so please guys stop bashing each other over little stuff like video call, multitask, multitouch, ui, os, etc etc... Just let it go and be happy with what you have as your current mobile device.

Not everybody buys apple products because of the apple logo, though I can understand why you would want to believe that. The iPad is nothing short of amazing to use. Obviously I say this only after having used one, unlike some people who bash products. Apple has never really introduced brand new functions into their products, but rather they have revolutionized the way we use them. Just look at mobile internet. Why would 50% of mobile internet traffic stem from iphones when they do not have 50% market share? "Ohhh its the isheep they are stupid toys!" Yeah just keep telling yourself that... You can't deny the success of the iphone based on things other than the brand.

As an O2 employee I do have to point out the possible overhype fo video calls. Those prices are shown for every phone on the o2 website, including ones incapable of video calls or even internet.

That being said, the prices are also incorrect as voicemail is no longer included on pay monthly tariffs.

Sorry to disappoint. However it would not surprise me if the iPhone DID contain a video call capability, do not take the o2 site as proof.
