Windows 10 Mobile update for older Lumias not coming this year after all

If the App situation changes soon in Windows 10 Mobile, you might miss the update on your phone.
If not, it doesnt do a whole lot of a difference. The most exciting new features rely on harware that older devices dont have.
The App situation with windows on phones is not so bad, that you cant use a windows phone. But you are likely to miss out on special offers that are distributed by apps. And activity-trackers and smart watches mostly lack apps. Internet-banking might be missing as well, depending on your bank. And you might not be able to get the exact same app as on Android or iOS, to do the same things, but there is usually an alternative. However, since there are fewer alternatives you might not find an app you like as much, and some are buggy.
MS really needs to step up their game. we need to see more hot hardware, from different makers.
No one but Apple can do an Apple, and really they should not be able to do it either, it defies logic, so MS really needs to understand, that a small portfolio is not an option.

Day by day Everyone's ( all over world ) expectations rises just because Microsoft introduced wp10 concept too early before them. I think they must ought to be doing secretly. People shouldn't intimated early and tgen they happily could use wp 8.1 & NO WAITs.

Ofcourse, older lumia devices won't be getting Windows 10 update any time sooner. It's there marketing strategy to sale new lumia devices during festive season.

WP10 is not yet ready which is why they don't want to mess with the WP8 devices until they are sure or it would drive people away, idk why they chose to release the flagships with an OS still in testing.

Windows store has the best YouTube player in the planet: myTube. Can save videos to SD card, video cast. And there is Metrotube, Perfect tube and Tubecaster. These apps are better than the official YouTube app for Android.
There are better audio players than Groove: Perfect Music
Video players supporting most formats: MX Player, Moli player, VLC
This week had the most number of new universal apps coming to Windows store. Just because an app is official doesn't mean there aren't any better apps, even on Android and iOS.

How much time does Microsoft need to get a decent OS for phones up and running? With all their money... They seem to me to be always a step behind. And Continuum is not a game changer. I have used Windows 10... The insider program version. It's average at best in my opinion...

Windows 10 Mobile is a solid operating system and it has a lot of potential. I can safely say after using Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1 side-by-side for a few weeks now (I carry a couple phones with me at all times) that Windows 10 Mobile is the better operating system.

You abandoned Windows phones because of update delays, even though those same updates that were delayed are still guaranteed for your phone eventually? Even though you can download those updates now through the Windows Insider Program?
Furthermore, you went to Android, expecting better updates?

why android users crying here? even many 2015 android devices will not get future updates and they are talking about windows..!!
At least Windows users will get updates whether it is a 2013 model. Delay is due to the fact that MS is working hard to make it stable for older devices which have 512mb of RAM like Lumia 520. New devices are already running on Windows 10 because of great hardware.

AnonD-93439, 17 Dec 2015stuff like this, makes me wonder, should i really go for WP... moreafaik , Microsoft wont giv up their mobile OS atleast for another 3 to 4 years. also u can trust Microsoft for their OS updates than android but it may delayed for some reason. I'm really happy that my 2013 march mobile will get the latest update. though it is off my secondary use, it is very useful.
