However, he argues that their aim is to create a world where a device is of lesser importance compared to the services it can access.

paco2x, 02 Jan 2016Is the other way around... MS made lots of innovations, but... moreThere is a big difference between the terms invention and innovation. And most people get them wrong. In your case, Microsoft made some inventions, Apple makes the innovations of those inventions. What's the point of having invention if you can't develop and refine it properly? If you own a company, it's your job to make money with whatever inventions or innovations you have.
However, Microsoft is still making money from their software business. Bill Gates is still the richest man in the World, officially.

    The strategy clearly isnt working.
The low price devices are quite nice for the price. But the performance advantage that WP used to have compared to android devices in the same price-range is almost gone.
And because of the app situation, many of those who bought a budget WP device will move to android, since they probably at least once experienced a situation, where they could not find an app (or a substitute app), which could be found on android.

And the higher end devies, does not have good enough design or any special features, to make them stick out. And you need to stick out, if you are going to grab the attention of someone that is actually looking for devices from other brands.

There are plenty of apps on WP, but some are not as good as their Android counterparts. That's an issue.

AnonD-483486, 02 Jan 20163 years without a flagship will do that to you.No, 3 years without the apps will do it for you, on a smartphone it's the apps that matter, where have you been. No app developer support and you are as good as dead, why are WP users ignoring the main culprit in WP's demise.

It's the apps or lack thereof stupid. Without the apps your mobile platform is as good as dead.

If the goal is to the provide access to great services and not necessarily a great device, then Microsoft has failed miserably on both fronts. Windows Phone is an absolute horror show when it comes to software and services (no Google Apps in 2016... Nuff said).

If the goal is to the provide access to great services and not necessarily a great device

this is the simple case of crying wolf syndrome.

if they had majority of the market they would do nothing in the likes to say that this is what our goal is of making a simple device but the content is the major player in the game.

Even to this day they have not much going for them in the MS store and a dare say developers are not lining up to get in that market and how many years has it been.
unfortunetly like I have said many times apple and google are too big and its too late for any non iOS or android device to get a grasp in the market.

I'm not coming back to Windows Phone ever. After bought it Lg Optimus 7 and only a little update ''wp7.8 mango'' discontinued skype after 3 years. Android is my buddy forever. I will not let you fool me again ''Microsoft'' . Nokia was the market king and Microsoft put it under his feet Nokia. Nokia N95 was the best phone ever made with 5 mpx camera in 2007 and Microsoft still makes 2 mpx phones camera in 2015 ?. Microsoft you aren't capable to compete with android phones. You better play with pc software like Windows 10. You left me unsatisfied. Microsoft doesn't care about his client just to empty our pocket.

I think it's because Microsoft take so long to release software updates and devices(handsets etc) from there announcements that the devices and software is no longer interesting to people.

Their market share can only get worse cos no one really care about it. Unless they drop their flagship price to entry level Android phone to compete, in which people may still buy it for the camera capabilities else it's pretty much unusable for most people.

Nokia is dead...windows os sucks...The only chance is for them to update it to run exe which they can obviously do but refuse.
Last chance for windows mobile is to run .exe files and get the latest intel mobile chips with 2 or 3 gb ram and wireless display or hdmi and sd slot. ..make it a portable pc or say goodbye to windows mobile.

I like the Windows Phone interface but the killer for me in using one for a daily drivers is the lack of local Apps that I use on my Android device.. The main stream apps are fine.. The new 950XL where I live is priced about the same price as the iPhone 6+ so not interested..

AnonD-75819, 02 Jan 2016But phone from MS will have SD410 for 150$ others will have... moreThe Lumia 550 is sold here in Egypt for the equivalent of 115$ just barely cheaper than 540 .. And the 640 didn't make it , only the 640 XL and it is being sold for around 200$
At the price range of the 550 , there are only 2 Snapdragon 410s : Lenovo A6000 , Archos 50 D helium and both come with 1 gb ram which makes the Snapdragon 410 perform terribly

Even with such comments, Microsoft still considers pricing there phones with an intenstion not to sell ! Consider Price of Lumia 550 in India; which is 9,999/- whereas 640 went for 7,999/- (640 was pulled off to give 550 room ! ! ! Such a grate mistake that can take windows phone to its early grave ! ! !)
