The phones will stay the same. This is example of fanboyism and paying just for the name.

Unfortunate ending for one of the great pioneer in hand phone industry, first it was Nokia and now it is Motorola. Who is next? By the way Lenovo phones were awful anywhere, who really care about their incorporation of moto branding in their flagships. Lumia lost its former spirit when Nokia branding was replaced with Microsoft and now Lenovo will lead itself to deterioration once Motorola brand is phased out as Lenovo branding does not even have any anticipation like Microsoft.

hitardo, 08 Jan 2016Big mistake! In some key Motorola markets (like USA, Canada... moreif it's a sad news for someone, it is only for Americans. American people (and some ***s inspired by their ideas) think American brand name had better value than others. but the truth is they are soon going to be replaced by or already owned by others.
if you feel lenovo brand name is new, you will soon remember this name as is as. two years ago they were new in India too. look at what they are now.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2016Outside of tech enthusiasts, when you mention Motorola most... moreThat would be a valid point if Lenovo's own brand name was any more recognizable in the smartphone world, but it isn't. Even outside of tech enthusiasts, I'm quite sure more people would recognise a Motorola phone over a Lenovo one. You don't throw out the baby with the bathwater..

rip moto, 08 Jan 2016If name of motorola vanishes then it will decrease the sell... moreIndeed. Sometimes name is enough. Bad move. Even after knowing that Motorola is own by Lenovo I bought X Play instead of any Lenovo name brand phone.
Let's see what Nokia will do as the contract with Microsoft is getting over in this year and according to the rumors, Nokia is planning to come back.

squareroot , 08 Jan 2016The lenovo sucks at making phones and meeting in customer s... moreIt is Lenovo who's getting better.. I think they got some advice from Motorola, lenovo's software is also getting better.. Lenovo's old ui is garbage, that might be true. But now is more of stock than iphon-ish now that it have app drawer and lollipop looking notification.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2016Stupid move from lenovo, Motorola has better software (Pure... moreI think you kinda misunderstood this.. Lenovo are getting better BECAUSE of Motorola. They now have better UI. Material looking notification UI instead of iphon-ish like in the old days, now Lenovo have app drawers.. And what's so sad is they're now phasing out Motorola.. I just don't get it.. Are they really that proud.. Ugh.. I'm a Lenovo user and I am disappointed.. Should've keep Motorola..

Big mistake! In some key Motorola markets (like USA, Canada and Brazil) the Lenovo brand is unknown to the general public, specially regarding smartphones. If this goes any further, the work made and the market share conquered until now will fall and disappear. I now advice Motorola phones to many friends, but with this move from Lenovo - and the consequent change in quality of hardware and software - I will stop doing so. Lately the Motorola phone raise their prices from previous generations, and as the quality to price ratio decreased, it was still a good deal, specially because the mid-tear market is not a good one and Motorola filled that space. Now I highly doubt this will be the case and I will never look at a Motorola - or should I say Lenovo - smartphone again.

The Vibe series could not match the legacy of Motorola phones and It is very sad that such a pioneer brand is phased out. Motorola brought us so many innovations that lenovo can just dream of. I hope they realize what a great mistake they have made before the Moto logo diminishes.
