I guess that the best we can do here is actually wait for the phone to be released, then see how it rates among the others. This seems to be a prototype which features and hopefully interface do not seem to be finalised. Only once the device is officially released for retail, then we can see what works and what doesnt.
There seem to be a lot of leaks with smartphones nowdays and what we see now is not the final product. Same thing applies to the leaked iPhone and other phones. Nokia has a few months. Lets see what they add to the product before they actually release it. Maybe we might get the interface updates that we hoped for. Im sure that they dont want to repeat what happened with the N97.

Very bad nokia. I expected a lot from symbian 3. But It seems LG's S CLASS UI is the best UI in market right now.

Just played with an android for an hour and i am impressed. Smooth response, great apps system, good interface. Upgrade phone OS is the trend, and there is no problem for Nokia to take on this path, simply Release the bloody hardware with 5th OS and PROMISE upgrade down the road (only note to customers upgrade will wipe the phone completely clean.)
This N8-00 hardware has been ready since feb, all set to go but the OS fails to match up with Apple / ANdroid and now, even Win Phone looks better than ^3 by a mile, Bada is looking as an impressive copy cat.
I am starting to wonder if the Symbian foundation people are doing anything at all. They can't use the resources and ideas from every fan.
The design by community project shows some develops knows what is the way to go but none of the phone they putting out are anywhere close.
My N82 is still the best camera smart phone with keys, then my Satio and its S60 suck! Just as the Russian preview guy said, camera aspects aside, I am seriously looking at Android / Bada as long as the apps catch up with Symbian offerings.

Nokia Dont Need Android, they can make good phones without having getting stuffs from other companies..
Give me a Android phone that can beat 5800 sales figure.one phone only..
What good about symbian flatroom is the freedom to tweak the OS,easy set-up for SETTINGS..ETC,symbian is so basic flatform yet its the easy flatroom to use..

Millions of people are fine with the Symbian platform, and that includes me. I was looking for specific improvements on the UI and they are on their way. Symbian^3 has already been described for months, so of course there's nothing 'new' here. Looks like that Russian reviewer has a huge self estime...

I wonder why nokia is not willing to put nice icons and theme to their new os?I am sure not many people like to look for favourite icons and theme to install in their phone
some eye candy nokia has ignore
like
capacitive glass - plastics is an eye sore
old nokia iocns and theme- even the paid icons and theme does not look good on nokia phone:(
hide the advanced setting and show the basic setting
wake up the designers at nokia software team

It would be great if the Internet Radio App comes pre installed as well as the podcast App from Nokia.
I am addicted to both on my absolute great Nokia E71... Just love it with the great, free push mail...

Is the the joke of the day? You guys are bashing a prototype with early build firmware and many other unreleased things. Ha, now I know why all the iPhone fanboys were mad when you bashed their new iPhone.
Why don't we go and bash other unreleased phones like the Dell Lightning, Thunder, EVO4G, and Galaxy S?

I hope the best for nokia but imo, symbian is and has been getting ancient when compared to other mobiles os in the market. Even the new symbian interface isn't enough. I think nokia will have to consider to at least think about making one or two android based os nokia devices to their high end market. I know nokia makes a killing off the low end market and i'm sure they will always dominate in the low end market but they need to think of something fast to compete with the likes of iphone, android, blackberry, etc etc when it comes to the high end consumer. Making beastly hardware specs like a 12mp camera and other things isn't enough anymore, maybe back in 2006 but this is 2010. People are lazy and want an easy os. Nokia, instead of enhancing symbian, they need to just do a whole cosmetic revamp of the os. Take some stuff from iphone and android and make it your own without having a lawsuit. Good luck nokia.

i don't think this is what the N8 will look like
its probably a proto, there was a 5800 like phone back in the day that even had an advert but never became
Nokia might be behind in S4 and S3 but the phone will be worth while
much better than the crap that was N97

Spec are very good, but it look... Ugly. Like old, plastic chines fake-pda. Because that cut edge on top and bottom its look like 30mm brick. I dont say anything about symbian, its to soon for that.
