The device doesn't look that cool. The UI is just like old Symbian^1.
The only thing that is cool, is the HDMI port.

The current symbian ui is very user friendly, the only drawback was that it was slow at times. This way mainly due to the slow processors used and the lack of a graphic chip. With the n8 specs this will no longer be a problem.BTW how do these commenters know thay the ui is buggy? Non of them have even touched the thing yet. Also, the reviewer is using a pre release and that is why there are some performance issues, the final product is always smoother. I am also not sure about this being the final physical design, it does not have that nokia look and i am sure the final product will have some modification.

Anonymous, 26 Apr 2010Nokia Dont Need Android, they can make good phones without h... moreYES THEY NEED ANDROID, or at least Android' Sense UI User interface... I mean, I have an N82 and is very good, but I want to go on TouchScreen, and Nokia touchscreen phones are CRAP.... The "NEW" OS don't look too new ... The best part of Android is that is developed by Google, no need to charge extra money on developers like Symbian since Android OS is FREE and OPENSOURCED. Look how much Android has grown only this half of year, and Symbian is still going down becouse the User Interface that is the same boring interface, no transition effects or stuff like that.... Loot at HTC what phones made and compare them to Nokia ones ... I'm wating to see the completed N8, but if it will be crap, Android or even iPhone 3G sounds a lot better chioce.

I remember when motorolla launched the Razr phone, most of their phones had almost the same design. Along with that, they also stuck to the same boring software until recently when they released their new handsets. Hope nokia doesnt stick to the same routine. Lets see what they have in store when they OFFICIALLY announce and release this handset. Maybe we will see lots of changes.

They must have people from nokia reading forums like these trying to see what people like and what they dont. Most of the major review sites have expressed their dislike so far. They will obviously make many changes before the official announcement and release because they dont want a repeat of the n97. Who knows, maybe they leaked it on purpose just to see what peoples comments and views are. Once they navigate to all the sites and read up on what the users think, they could make all those changes.

why don't you all shut the hell up. We'll see how the device stacks up at launch.I'm sure theres a quite a bit more to be done to it.Firmware revisions, and a general tidy up. Wait and see.

I was a nokia fan before the touchscreen phone explosion. I waited for nokia's response to iphone. My wait was justified by the nokia 5800 and even considered it better than iphone. 2 weeks after light usage, my 5800 stopped responding. I sent it to the service center and waited for 6weeks until it gets fixed. I was so dissapointed but still sticked with nokia. Then 2 months later my 5800's screen gone crazy. I touch 1 icon, another one opens. Now I will never ever buy any nokia phone, ever. I sticked with their lousy UI because I thought their hardware is good anyway, but no. All nokia phones (1 sony ericsson but went back to nokia) in 1 decade, now a samsung running android user. I'll get an htc next. I love my samsung spica though

The symbian^3 is still in progress, so I think Nokia have just installed a improved version of s^1.

well, we cant judge 'coz its a half-baked product.. not related, actually nokia's already got a winner in maemo, and i dont quiet understand where they're going.... i can understand if a company has 2 OSs - 1 for the lower end, and the other for the high. but symbian and maemo, despite maemo's so-called internet table OS differentiation, they're both for nokia's smartphones and technically symbian would support browsing as well..
