AnonD-399271, 03 Feb 2016only 1% in 4 months ? we can safely say that marshmallow ... moreAt least more manufacturers than ever are dedicated to updating their handsets to the latest iteration as quickly as possible, whether it's Moto, Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC, heck even some of the cheap Chinese companies too. It won't be long when the numbers change drastically for the better.

They are saving MM for S7 then updates for other phones will be quicker. The effort required to update an old phone is huge compared to bringing out a phone with MM straight away. My own thoughts are it is quite possible there are too many models out their that there are not enough engineers to cope or pay to get MM on devices.

Security updates however SHOULD be issued to save any misuse. Probably nothing would happen anyway I have never heard of anyone been hit by these viruses if your tech savvy but that said never heard anything with normobs.

Most no. Of android phones are sold by samsung. Samsung will not update all of them to marshmallow or will update very slowly. Hence the low percentage of marshmallow.

Now if only Google posted the percentage of devices that run February's Nexus security bulletin. I'm guessing it would be single digits...

In fact a pie-chart with the breakdown of all security bulletins might have shown that the vast majority of devices are just wide-open in the wild without any kind of security update.
