Anonymous, 11 May 2010I think you replied to the wrong person, if you read my mes... moreI had the GSM version of the microTac, hey that was doing stuff before Nokia came along with their patents even though it was made by Motorola.
I had to carry 3 or 4 batteries with it it'd last an hour, maybe two if I was lucky.
It was costing 5 or 6 times what I pay now for a free iPhone on a plan with more calls and of course data, which didn't exist.
No SMS, I had to write all my numbers down when I got a new phone and enter them manually.

Anonymous, 11 May 2010There is no phone with front facing camera that is not 3G, ... moreI think you replied to the wrong person, if you read my messages carefully, you would know I would take any other brand's phone over the almighty brand, anytime any place.
And if the almighty is the only brand that makes mobile phone in this world, chances are either none of us would use such "antique" device, or I'd be out of this world already.
What's the deal with front facing cam anyway? Which message did I say there is a non-3G phone with front facing cam for video call?
Somebody CLAIMED he knew about a phone which supported video call function, and I simply asked which model it was, as I remember, back in 1993 I was still using an analog MOTOROLA phone, not sure if the almighty was still making TV's then.

P%nm, 11 May 2010The only two things the iphone have that the nokia device d... moreBut it is true that video calls as of this date is one of the least used features on a smartphone. I really don't think if would matter a lot to iphone users whether or not video calling will be added on the next gen iphone. One thing for sure, and maybe this is the reason why some iphone users are excited about it, is that when video calling is indeed going to be a feature on the next gen iphone, rest assured that it would actually be working smoothly which would actually make it a usable feature, and not just a feature to brag about that your phone has. We know that video calling has been out for a while now. We just don't use our phones for it, but our computers at home :)

Deep space bar, 10 May 2010Why would nokia want to have another smartphone OS for the ... morePlease. There is nothing wrong with sticking to your Nokia devices. But please don't tolerate and justify Nokia's failed business decisions just to defend them. Nokia's mistakes obviously haven't stopped you from loving them. And don't make comments like "why would Nokia adopt android" because they might if meego proves to be another failure. Remember, when Nokia fans only had the n95, they said that touchscreen is no good, but then you guys changed your minds when your 5800 (or whatever) and n97 were released. You Nokia fans also called the iphone's capacitive screen as old technology compared to resistive, and then again you guys changed your minds when your Nokia released your x10. You guys are really becoming a mess, and you've been eating your words. As for google making their android apps compatible with nokia's platforms, well, I don't have to say which devices will get first priority :) I guess nokia's symbian, maemo and meego devices will have to wait for google's green light before they can have apps available to their users, lol.

Anonymous, 11 May 2010I am using my head before I make comments, do you? When di... moreI know the fact is, before iphone "3G" was released, the almighty brand REFUSED to release any "3G touchscreen" device.
Whenever I talked about this fact, fans of the almighty brand would bring up the almighty brand's "7710", which was a "2G" phone.
Where I live iphone 2G was never officially available, yet I saw way way way x 100 x 100 iphone 2G's over any 7710...as I think I only saw one person used 7710 where I live years ago.
Then AFTER iphone 3G was released, the almighty brand all of the sudden released dozens of touchscreen handsets, with none coming close to the "thinness" of iphone.

You can update simm memory card to 8GB or 16GB, but iphone don't lol!
N5800xm was released with first FW at 369Mhz, then was hardware updated to 434MHz, i know you don't like it, but how about if nokia releases next FW that turns CPU speed on N5800xm to 600MHz, because that is possible, but you will have heart-attack i guess..., will you survive..., lol..!

To get the so called "hardware update", one would need to sell the previous phone and use the $ and pay the differences to get the "so called" new model.

Mini Me, 10 May 2010Nobody is folowing Apple, every company is following the ne... moreI am using my head before I make comments, do you? When did the touchscreen trend became mainstream in the mobile phone industry? Oh yes, it was after the first gen iphone? After the 1st gen iphone was released, which touchscreen phone is being compared to when a new high end touchscreen is being launched? Oh yes, it's the iphone. What killer term came out for high end touchscreen phone? Oh yes, it's "iphone killer". When did accelerometers, proximity sensors, multi touch, kinetic scrolling, capacitive touch, 3.5 glass displays, app stores, became popular for smartphones? Oh yes, after the iphone. So yes mister, I do think before I make a comment, unlike you who seems to be clueless of who sets the trends. Look around you and learn what's going on :)
