Brilliantly Quiet, 21 May 2010Yes.. you can get v2.2. About 6 months from now fastest, ... morethe desire is their flagship model, it will be 6months before they even announce its successor, to have a successful flagship model it will have to have the latest version of its OS asap, yes im sure they will announce some lower spec 2.2 phones, but desire will be top dog for some time yet

Anonymous, 21 May 2010HTC have said most phones released in 2010 will see a froyo... moreYes.. you can get v2.2.
About 6 months from now fastest, under one condition that HTC does not release new phones with v2.2 on board.
Because if they did, Desire can wait a little more longer.
You can understand that HTC must push the sales of the new phone, right? :P

Anonymous, 21 May 2010i'm thinking of buying HTC desire which runs on android 2.1... moreHTC Desire, Legend, EVO, Incredible…etc… will get Froyo eventually, probably by the time Google announces next version of Android… problem is Sense UI, they have to work it and optimize it for 2.2…. And still make and SELL new phones with 2.2 preloaded.
Will see…. Luckily for us there’s a lot of android development going on, I’m sure XDA or somebody will cook up something.

Apart from the HTC phones and a few phones from other mobile companies, no old phone is likely to get the 2.2 update. They'll probably only give 2.2 to pones released after June.

Anonymous, 21 May 2010What are the hardware requirements for Android 2.2? Can a p... moreas stated, froyo isn't hungry recources etaer like eclair.
It run 4 times faster with the same processor. logically that should go with lower cpu specs.
my question is, would they (HTC for example) will do it?
I don't think so, look at hero users still waiting for outdated updated to eclair next month!
Google should fix this mess really. Existing device with the capability should get the update, not according to business preferences by phone makers like HTC, etc.
HTC just look after their new devices like desire, etc. and if they come up with new v2.2 device, then Desire owners can start crying like Hero did and still do!

You CAN TRANSFER files via Bluetooth on android, just not on the earlier versions, you can beginning with 1.6 or 2.0 version. People are crazy and i think the ones that keep on saying that android can`t do that are just people who own iphones that clearly can`t do that from the box.
