So which phones currently run Symbian 3, that is ones that are actually released now, today (May 23 2010). Any?

Because I'd want to see this in action before I'd even consider another Nokia phone, because the implementation of Symbian on the 5800 is crap.

This looks great. No Divx support is a small price to pay. If this has Realplayer, then there is no need for it. If Nokia can easily optimise Mp4 for this phone, then it will be awesome for movies. The last Nokia I had, used some Nokia Converter. Has this improved for video conversion?

Anonymous, 23 May 2010In Android you get a flashy user interface AND a smooth awe... moreSymbian is "faster" than Android, it runs on lesser hardware, the fact that you have seen it on slower devices does not mean that the OS is slower, a fact you will start to accept when you see the speed of the S^3 OS on N8. I am happy froyo is faster, at least the OS is a halfway efficient virtual machine. Sigh.

Anonymous, 23 May 2010Symbian better than Android??? F*** NO!! Saying Symbian is ... moreyou say that Android has appr. 50.000 apps. You are correct, there are indeed ca. 50.000 apps, howver, 49.500 of them are pretty useless/garbage.

You guys still think that a mobile phone is gonna 'replace' a dedicated PC or notebook and that it should perform as well as a computer and have as many software applications. unfortunately, the opposite is true. A mobile phone is usually used for three things:
                      1. communicatio (phone / SMS / short emails)
                      2. consume media (listen to music/mp3, perhaps some short video-clips)
                      3. make photos / videos

Even if you had 20 billion applictions for Android, it's still no fun to browse the internet with a 3.5" screen or to type any longer texts or do office work without proper keyboard.

That's what NOKIA have recognized: The N8 is opimized to make maximum use multimedia, especally w/r to making photos / videos of exceptional quality. The Symbian 3 platform is very efficietn and useful for all kind of communication. A few examples? Multitasking, copy and paste, tethering etc.... things that iphohe or android OS are starting to learn but Symbian has them for years.
Symbian is nice to the CPU / RAM and to the battery.

So, I don't get what you guys are complaining about. If you want a micro-computer then go buy the N900 which is for nerds and geeks. The N8 will be the next blockbuster and it will certainly suprpass the 5800XM popularity by far.

Symbian better than Android??? F*** NO!! Saying Symbian is better than Android is like saying a snail is faster than a cheetah. As I said, Symbian only has 9% of developers left. No more developers left. No one is interested in Symbian anymore. Market share is dropping. It's dead. And now they'll release this outdated piece of crap nearly on SEPEMBER. wtf? While Android has been only here for barely even 2 years, yet it already reached 50,000 thousands apps. The latest technologies on phones always use Android. And now even the NVIDIA is going to Android? Symbian?? Same old outdated ARM processor used on 5800. Google has been signing manufacturers while Symbian is left only for Nokia... and that's about it.

ANd don't give me sh*t about their 'touchscreen' phone before because they discontinued it. Those things you mentioned are basic phone features and hardly even an innovation.

I still don't give a sht about what you say because when it comes to mobile, iPhone is the most succesful in terms of revenue. Even their one single phone can make billions while nokia phones' revenue combined can barely even reach iPhone's and SYmbian's market share is dropping. :)) So good luck to you f*gs and your dying symbian. August release is effing late. Android, Iphone 4, and Windows 7 Series will beat the crap out of nokia and wipe their *ss.
