AnonD-246723, 25 Feb 2016As a real engineer i would say that you are wrong . There ... moreI am sorry, but I'm not wrong. It's used everywhere in the industry. How else would you describe movement along a certain amount of axis? Like I said, look up CNC machines, it's common to buy one with 3 or 5 or 6 degrees of freedom. This isn't manipulation as you would suggest, it's an industry standard to describe it.

AnonD-507383, 25 Feb 2016i want to see how the mi5 will perform in the video if it i... moreThat would only matter if the device was rolling the phones, it appeared to just be a diagonal shake in a flat, 2D, plane. If this was the case it wouldn't matter where the phones were positioned as they would all experience the same movement.

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2016Talk about how good that OIS from mi5 but no low light phot... moreThere low lights photo samples from Mi5 if you watch the launching in MWC 2016.
In fact, if you watch the laughing in China through youtube, they even dare to show the comparison between Mi5 and iphone 6s. Such an unethical marketing practice.

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2016Just flat out copied from othersI think everyone is aware Xiaomi didn't invent the smartphone concept, so move along.
Other than that, those "others" could actually learn a thing or two from the Xiaomi novelties.

Better OIS doesn't mean better photos.
I think Xiaomi should have gone Samsung way by improving aperture to f/1.8 or f/1.7. With f/2.0 aperture, images in the dark will keep being the weakest point.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2016As an engineer, the kindest I can do is say you are wrong, ... moreAs a real engineer i would say that you are wrong .
There is no need to use more than 3 axis to describe a 3D movement . As i say at previous post . They can name it all they want 4 , 8 even 16 axis depend on how you define it . However , it only describe 3 axis movement . Putting more number is just a way of marketing . In the end it is nothing more than x , y ,z
