I'm upgrading in September (UK... moreI see your point, and I have to second it. Everything is right when it comes to what one wants and needs.
Those futile arguments are sickening - ppl fighting over and over the same stuff... "Nokia owns!!!", "Nothing can beat the iPhone!!!", and so on... blah, blah, blah, yada yada...
Do you know what's worse?? Flaming and bad mouthing devices that are yet to hit the shelves and/or bashing devices they do not own. Seriously... (yeah right, tested at the store? Big deal... try it for a month or over. And if you did, and disliked it, just comment about it w/o trying to make your point an absolute truth)
the "Fanboys War" has been going on for too long. Will it ever stop? I think not... -_-

Galaxy S is extremely good phone but the price is too high! I believe that in 2-3 months it will go at 550 euros or lower...

It really is a tough one...
I'm upgrading in September (UK) and it's a three-horse race;
1. X10 (probably not, due to U.I. being laggy and in its infancy - not entirely happy with the lack of customisation when in that mode) - also multi-touch not there yet and 1.6? Sony are notorious for delays, I can't imagine Froyo in the mix EVER... (phone looks lovely though)
2. Desire (a real contender, but with me currently having a Hero - it feels a little 'safe' - sure it got excellent reviews, but I find Sense a leetle bit boring, but love the rubberised back - not struck on the colour - and I'm aware at just how bad HTC cameras are - flash or not their cameras have always sucked!)
3. Galaxy S (sounds perfecto - design is a little boring, but screen should be amazing, and let's face it that's what you spent 90% of the time looking at... 9 customisable windows too? ooooooh...)
I think I may have to try out Sammy - last time I did that I had an Omnia and it was really good! But who knows - maybe Motorola will come up with something in the next couple of months?!?!?
And to everyone who is getting heated on here - STOP!
It's all about personal preference, forget loyalty to a company, be loyal to yourself and what YOU want - demand the specs and features YOU need - if it's a camera with flash - go for the one that gives you that, if it's a super-screen - go for that, if it's reliability and stability - go for that too!

I haven't any experience with this phone yet, so I can't comment on the speaker, but at least for me personally, that's not even relevant. Whenever I'm out and above I will either feel the vibrate, or I will hear the ringtone in my bluetooth headset. In any case, low speakers don't seem like enough of a drawback to turn down the fantastic range of other features imo.

ahh i hate the pricing.
649 is alot of money, and when apple brings out a phone thats equal or better they will most likely go for an even higher price.
Hope they lower it soon because im actually waiting for the next iphone.

X10 is a lousy phone. I brought at 1098SGD, now can sell 680 only.
Used less than 1 month. LOL, if can, skip this phone. Go for HTC or samsung.

haters need to get over the flash omission (because phone cameras are useless, flash or no flash) and face the fact that in all other aspects, Samsung are "doing it right" with this phone.

Good news about Froy still useless without a flash, such a big omission that could have been put on at such little cost - simply daft
