it's a long time that sony dead.now xiaomi,meizu and Huawei are far better than sony. just change the name can't help sony.

I'm japanese and was always a sony fan but this time xiaomi launched significant better device than sony. Though I will not buy mi5 cuz it doesn't support microSD.

Ok, as you can see for yourself, 32GB version of Mi5 is costing 399$,Premium ine is 600$ and TAX in my country is 25%, in many others is from 20-27%.
So, i don't know how is your mathematics skills, but that is 500$ for cheapest and 750$ for Pro model!!!
Ca$h...and no international warranty.
Sony in other hand, we all can by with carrier subbies, so it will cost lot less. (1€ for me)
So again, whic is cheaper???
I do agree Mi4i looks better, but it ain't all in looks

forget the price when we talking about the perfomance...
for me, Xperia X is the winner...
my first Sony Android device was TX, good camera (comparing to another sony at that day), smooth and could minimize the usage of ram within 10 to 12 apps running background...
as we know, Xiaomi couldnt do that with their redmi 1, at first start (and we just yet install any of apps) only 400mb free ram (and decreasing)

I guess you did find a lot of people with same problem in their (funboys) forums...
Even they are all blunded by love to that brand, no one is happy wit that peace of cr*p.
Worst phone ever...but Xiaomi call's it "flagship" and people ware running to buy it.
Biggest problem is, Xiaomi do not give international guarantee to us, so "you bought it, you do what you want with it, we don't carw anymore"

For repairs and warranty, that's a risk that i'm willing to take, I've been using my phone for close to 2 years now, I've never sent it to customer service for repairs.

People, before you wrote something, just check the facts...
You are comparing prices for Xiaomi in China and European (and US) prices for Sony!
Did you ever buy something from china???
Well, just to let you know, resellers will take their peace of cake, and you will pay TAX on total price...
And in case of problems, you are alone...no service centers, no international warranty, so you have to send your phine back to China and hope it will be OK, and actually, you have to hope to get it back

It might doesn't have USB-C, that's bad, but it has much larger camera sensor 1/2.3'' vs 1/2.8'', so getting more light, it has IP68 protection, it has Category 9 LTE, though they got same SoC, so probably both has same LTE abilities, except for band support - that's up to software, it has microSD support.
And we still yet to see who has better screen.
So basically it's infrared vs IP68, better camera, microSD and design. IP68 is a serious and very useful feature, but does it worth of twice larger price? I think no. Hence why Mi5 wins in functionality vs price category.

The truth about these big brands is that they have somehow brainwashed alot of people to making them believe that more expensive is better. The fact is that is the biggest lie in the history of man. Do you know it costs apple $228 to produce a single iphone 6, and then sell close to a thousand dollars. That's just plain deceit to tell me that it's worth it. The truth is xiaomi is being sensible to it's customers by not trying to cheat people off their money by sell if cheap. The most expensive part of a phone is the soc... Sure brand does matter but don't call me a fool by telling me because you are Samsung, lg, Sony or Apple so the price should be quadruple the cost of production.. So for me mi5 wins. Simple.

Let me day that this is a NON-Objective (unfair) comparison, because:
- Compare well recognized brand with other one just because they have similar specs.
-Most of people will choose the cheaper one (price wise) as both phones not released yet and we do not know the durability and the performance of them.
- to be fair comparison should be samsung, LG, sony, HTC (I know it is suffering) flagships in one category and Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo, ...etc in other category (flagship specs with lower price)
-lastly, I am just a person may be other people disagree
