Nokia N8 first official video demo comes out, not bad at all

28 May, 2010
Nokia has obviously put a lot of eggs in the N8 basket and is keen to convince us that it's a phone worth having. Nokia has just released the first of a trilogy of videos that demonstrate the new Symbian^3 user interface...

Camry, 30 May 2010I'm laughing my head off all the time when I see all these ... moreBy the way Galaxy S meant to be a major Iphone competitor and its copy.. N8 and Galaxy S both are different devices. So I dont think there is any competition between Galaxy S and N8.
For me, I like the ui of N8 more, compare to Touchwiz of Galaxy S.

I'm laughing my head off all the time when I see all these stubborn Nokia and iPhone fanboys cursing and scolding the heck out of each other. =D

Seriously come on..! Competition is healthy for business and for us. There will never be a 'perfect' phone nor there will be the best phone.

From what I see now, the main competitors are:

iPhone : Well, you fanboys insist its 'unbeatable'. Please, its only good in its software. Thats it and nothing else more. The hardware is the sort of hardware you find in phones half its price. But, I can't deny that the OS and apps is really great.

N8 : Aha, finally Nokia comes up with something that can actually match the iPhone in terms of hype. Which is why you fanboys make so much noise about. The hardware is off the charts for sure, with its 12MP xenon equipped camera, 1GHZ processor and all. But software? Why Nokia, why stick to symbian? Symbian, although very functional, looks ugly and its just too slow. Whether Symbian^3 can save the reputation or not remains to be seen.

i9000 Galaxy S: I went wow over this one's screen. Nothing can beat its screen yet it seems. And with HD recording and Android, its a serious competitor to the other two. WHICH is why Nokia fanboys are upset that some other phone beat the N8 in specs and start trolling this one. WHICH is also why iPhone fanboys join in the fight.

Please, could all of you fanboys just shut it?

I hope nokia implement the multitouch in the virtual keyboard or swype as well just like the samsung galaxy

new iphone is nothing new, same boring ui.
Samsung built quality and design need to improve
          blackberry touch pghone is shit
n8 is still the best choice, good price, good performance

thank God they made the UI so much faster than that of the before video.
it's nice to see that finally Symbian^3 has the "options" and "exit" buttons on the bottom when in landscape mode. i hate the big buttons on the right, they take so much space.
looks like a pretty good phone. a video in portrait mode would me nice too. :D
hmmm... when will nokia make a n8 pro (slide out keyboard). i think i better wait for that. :D

My iPhone 3G is quicker sliding between homescreens. Not for me thanks, that looks terrible as all Symbian and Nokia smartphones are. I'll use anything else over that. Nokia should stick to selling cheap phones with S40 os on them. That is their market, that is all they are good at. The smartphone market is to smart for their developers.

If Nokia does not make a big software/hardware/marketing mistake, this might be one of the most successful Nokia smartphones, comparable with the N95 success (but I dont think it will stay on sale as long as the N95 as the smartphone market is quite dynamic now). Android is a very serious competitor and will gain a lot of marketshare, I dont see a very good year for Apple iPhone (not as good as previous years anyway - unless they have some marketing tricks in their sleeves) as HTC Desire and Samsung i9000S are also great devices. Multimedia/photo/video oriented customers will probably prefer the Nokia N8, business guys will split between HTC Desire and Samsung i9000S, americans will keep buying mostly iPhone probably (its a local brand for them so at least for that reason, before Apple they both a lot of Motorola phones, also a local brand).

Tom-Helge, 29 May 2010Smeone said this: iPhone OS - 15.4% Android - 9.6% ... moreYes, but remember Android is found on multiple devices across multiple manufacturers.

iPhone OS is only available on iPhone. One device has a 16% share of the market. That's impressive.

Regardless, I can't stand Apple. They neuter every product they ever produce, market it perfectly, puppets go out and buy, then the next neutered model comes out - repeat the process. Planned obsolescence to the extreme, patronising in its obviousness, but m0rons still go out and buy in their droves...

It is inevitable that Android will overtake iPhone OS, but then you can't compare Rambo to an entire army. What would be interesting is if iPhone OS was available on more than one device. It might have overtaken Symbian already...
