Apple finds iPhone 4 signal bars misleading, hiding poor signal

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2010Since when was Apple the leading Phone company... It is jus... moreAnd since when did a non iphone user like you start to care about iphone issues that doesn't affect you? Oh yeah, it's when the iphone started selling more units than your favored device :)
I've been asking people here to give me a perfect phone, and no one has given me any. So why is it so strange when the Apple presents some problems with their iphones. Oh yes, it's because it's an opportunity for haters to badmouth it.
There is a software issue here as well. When the user shorts or grips the primary antenna or a vulnerable area of a phone, the iphone's OS is supposed to look for other frequencies or alternatives so you wouldn't lose signal. Their testing showed that there is a significant delay of the iphone in doing this, and that is what they are trying to fix.

I've lost a lot of respect for gsmarena. It's one thing to publish an article, but to be so obviously biased is another thing. And before anyone asks, I am NOT an "iPhone fanatic" or "fanboy" or whatever. Geez.
Give Apple a chance before you just blow them off. I know this official statement from Apple seems really strange, but at least this shows they are trying to respond to consumers.
And regarding these comments...HaHa..it's so funny how probably 99% of people who post negatives comments here don't own the iPhone and they're just posting here out of either jealously or boredom or who knows. It's just a phone guys! I agree, the Samsung Galaxy S is a great phone too. What is the need to post insulting comments about a phone over the Internet? Seriously some people need to get a life.

Well, Lets make some reality check
- Microsoft is the hypocrite king who makes lousy software for the last decades.
- Nokia E52 has poor reception due to hardware.Nobody making a big deal out of it and in fact lots of phone does.
- Whoever wrote this sounds angry and not in the right frame of mind.Unless this is how he/she get readers to read.

i read the statement and then I felt "wow !!! what a cool way to fool the buyers"... now what they will do is just the opposite of what they said ... they will increase the bar display 2 steps so no body will notice. Its bitter but the truth is that the apple software is there only power in the phone segment and the hardware is piece of garbage....
1000$ phone with so-so features.....

As usual, non iphone users flock in here as if they're the ones dealing with the issue. This issue does not affect you at all. Stop hating and stop your jealousy. It's not nice.
For us iphone users. This is good news. It means that Apple is trying to fix the problem. Although I do believe that there's really little they can do about the shorting issue.

Nokia seems best in (just) signal reception department. My N79 was hardly loosing reception and had no call drop issues at all but now my brand new Samsung Wave have some sort of similar issues.

Apple is a joke. LOL!
Everyone knows that apple cant fix this problem adequately with a software update. Apple and the owners of the iphone are in la la land!

there is a reason why no phone company placed the antenas outside the device, and this is the reason. remember the old phones that had an external antena and it was covered in plastic? that's why! still, a simple solution like placing a clear coting on these external antena would somewhat fix the problem. and forget about 3rd party plastic bags or whatever, because it will ruin the hole design.

mmmm.....software update to fix a hardware problem eh?
Wish Nokia could release a software update to update my E72 from 5mpx to 12mpx! They just need to ask steve how they do it......hahahahahahaha......breathe......hahahahahahahahah.......aaaaahhhhh.
But seriously, Apple users sholud stop acting like sheep and speak with their feet. I can understand being loyal to a brand, but when that brand lies to your face & treats u like 2 year olds?
