Apple finds iPhone 4 signal bars misleading, hiding poor signal

[deleted post]The product as delivered is defective. Software doesn't change physics. Mobile phones do not have redundant hardware. Apple has already provided two self contradictory explanations for the iPHONE 4 Product defect. As such they are fair game to all.

Just shows the Apple people never tested the Antenna before they put it on the iPhone, which is totally odd for a supposed to be mobile Producer, you should not have to wait for a software update, but Apple should recall all the iPhones an fit another type of Antenna an Replace it,Never losed a Signal holding a mobile a certain way,so Steve at Apple Grow up Please

APPLE HAS THE SOLLUTIO... moreAPPLE HAS THE SOLLUTION (part2):
For those that cannot afford the NEW and improved external antenna, apple is willing o provide Iphone 4 models with only a 2 bar signal icon instead of the 4 bar signal icon ...that way users will feel less frustrated

I sold my nexus one because of the exact same problem.
holding it took the reception to 0 which caused call loss and super weak 3G signal (which often completely lost to GPRS)

This has been my complaint with apple's phones all the time. They don't know how to build mobile phones. They lack the expertise. Voice communication is very low on Apple's priority list. There products are designed for the urban rich. one is required to OWN a computer to fully use a iPhone. As others have stated, software updates are can not change physics. Attempts at SW fixes are likely to induce health risks & introduce issues with the non-replaceable battery.
my original switch to Nokia, form SE, was motivated by there clear lead in signal reception and voice quality. I could here the conversation in the loud enviroments and I didn't loose reception when I went to the basement in search of a quite. I wish phone reviewer, like gsmarena, did a more precise measurement of reception strength which is such a priority for non-urban phone users. Without this information one is forced to become loyal to a brand that consistantly performs if reception is a priority.

APPLE HAS THE SOLLUTION:
i have just heard from APPLE, a reliable source, that they will release, ESPECIALY FOR IPHONE 4, a 6 foot (apx 2metre) external antenna that you can connect to your iphone 4 to get full signal. This will be made ultra-portable through a backpack system that will be provided in the retail package. (Batteries NOT included!)

iPhone fans of course would ACCEPT the statement from Apple. who won't when you're a die-hard iPhone fan? hehe.even if you've found out you lost a huge amount of money due to POOR SIGNAL. oh well, let's just say you can't have it all. :)

Well the mistake in formula can certainly explain the praise they got for excellent reception on the phone. People are looking at higher reception and thinking it is genuine . what it fails explain is why there are drop calls if just the displayed bars are wrong!
