23 April, 2016
Earlier he was of the view that it's difficult for humans to distinguish between Full HD and QHD displays.

i dont understand this 2k move, doesnt dedicated tech like the vive/rift uses 1080p for each eye then i see this up to 2k for a SECONDARY vr device(aka a cellphone) to have 2k :/

bye bye battery lifetime, unless it will be 4500+ battery. at first huaweii goes the same price rang as others and now the same power killing screens. huaweii wont be any different anymore. they should just stick to usb modems.

AnonD-506180, 23 Apr 2016Science evolves. So all electronic equipment manufacturers ... moreIt's ~346ppi that's the limit. Resolution is literally irrelevant, it's only about ppi and distance. There's no use for anything above, roughly, for the distance at which you look at your phone. No one uses their phone at 2cm from their eyes. We've already hit the limit @5" 1080p, there is no reason, except VR, which most phones can't handle anyway unless you count shitty cardbox and clones, even then you don't need 550+ ppi, for which there is a benefit since it's split, roughly, in two. Managing 80fps is more relevant anyway which, you guessed it, is way easier at 1080p.

2k hd, those that have twice the horizontal pixels of HD/720p, also known as QHD, displays are useless and nothing but marketing memes

Smartphones should have 720p/1080p display resolution. Laptops 1080p, QHD display resolution. TVs should have QHD, 4k display resolution for next 3/4 years.

Does these manufacturers even know what means word "mobile"? It means that you can have with u, and use when you are out of house. How you are going to use it if they pump pixels that reduce battery life to less than a day. Let's just hope they offer the same hardware, specs with FHD and QHD for those who like to charge their smartphones all the time.

Science evolves. So all electronic equipment manufacturers must adapt requirements. Now, to get an explanation for those who make confusion between 2K and FHD, UHD, SUHD, etc.
2K technology is actually the next level FHD, namely UHD meaning.
The human eye can distinguish only up to 8 K. Both allow the physiological structure eyes of the human being now.

While i agree he might meant QHD as opposed to 2K, 2K itself IS a term of resolution that exist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2K_resolution
