I have not seen enough evidence to suggest that this is a generic problem, my friend works for Orange customer care and he says that there has not been that many complaints as the media would have us believe. Now don't get wrong here I am not saying that there's nobody out there experiencing problems, what am saying is that the number of people happy with the devise out number the people with problems by far. There's always the option to return and get a refund or exchange and if it still doesn't work and one still wants the iphone then I guess a move to an area with strong signal would be another option as it has been proven to work better in such areas lol.
My HTC Desire drops all signals when am at home, the only signal I get is my wifi, I need to learn how to start up a frenzy lol!

I've heard even lower on the Mac-Rumors site, they're saying 0.20%
They say Apple is been safe and Rounding up hugely.

Hmmm 0.5% of users experience the signal fail on the iPhone4. The rest of 99.5% are using Nokia, SE, Samsung, Moto and Android. It figures and the numbers dont lie.

Everything is stable and good, u might wana check it out, for me I'm waiting for the Nokia N8 .. Now using Nexus one, Nokia E72, and blackberry bold 9700.

First time the phone maker is forcing the user to add the bumper case. Believe it's too cumbersome to change away the whole magnesium housing.
I believe the next version of iPhone 4 will be coated with a layer of Teflon on its magnesium housing. So better wait if you not get the set yet.

Apple, I think I'll skip this installment of the iPhone. Four is just an unlucky number? Or is it I just don't buy products with a major design flaw. So if I go into a poor single area and I can't touch my phone or I'll get no reception? Right, unless I have a case on.
Stevie, I think you really hurt the Brand! Not all of us are brainwashed fanboys. I think a large portion of people such as myself select your products because, "they just work". Your words Stevie. BTW, Blackberry ios6, Windows phone7 and Android3 are coming this fall. Xander.

I've had to take out a loan to pay off the rest my contract and bought the HTC desire coz quite simply the phone was unusable, every time I got a phone call the screen froze hence I was never able to take a call, I went through four different handsets until I finally gave up, now this is where it gets interesting you'll probably would say I was one of the unlucky few yet will not accept the same reason for the Iphone4.
The local care centre is full of messed up N97's, I know coz my pal works there.

I thought Steve has done a great job explaining their side of the story. They've obviously taken all the attacks thrown at them seriously eventhough they know that their users are quite happy with their iphone4. But Apple had to say something about all the exaggerated concerns that the media have been barraging them with. It is not fair.
The iphone4 is obviously the best iphone ever produced, which even catapulted the iphone way ahead of the competition, making it almost unreachable for the others, and a lot of iphone antagonists are just not happy with that.
The iphone4 sold over 3 millions units in just 3 weeks. I am sure that if not for the aggressive attacks, they would have sold even more.
With Apple's press release, they have made it clear that the antennagate issue is not exclusive to the iphone4 alone, but is a fact of life for any phones. Although I do believe that due to it's antenna placed externally, it is more vulnerable compared to phones with antennas placed internally. Still, all phones have it, not just the iphone4.
Apple giving away free cases to all iphone4 buyers is a generous act that I find very acceptable. Reality is, majority of the users will buy a case for any touchscreen phone anyway. So how can you not appreciate this offer from Apple? Add to that, they are giving full refunds for those who are not happy with their iphone4.
With that said. Apple has replied reasonably to everyone's concerns. Return your iphone4 if you're not happy with it. If that would not make you happy, nothing will.
