Antenna wars: RIM, HTC and Nokia strike back at Apple

"Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying human behavior, including how people hold their phones for calls, music playing, web browsing and so on". Yet they still came up with a messed up phone like the N97.
Nokia should just lay off until the N8 drops, they failed to recall the N97 which is the incumbent flagship phone which is total mess.
RIM and HTC on the other have the right to complain but hey! why ain't the media going on and on about signal bars dropping on their phones, why are they only interested in what's happening to the Iphone?

iPhone Killer = iPhone 4
Let's see how's the fanboys gonna defend their "god", Mr Steve.
I'm pretty sure BB, HTC & Samsung will take legal actions when their products sales are bad because of Mr Steve's UNPROFESSIONAL statements.
Steve thinks he can get the antenna issue cool down, but actually, he makes the company reputation really bad. Sell your AAPL shares before it's too late!!!
Dear Steve,
How's the progress for our PROXIMITY SENSOR issue? And the proprietary USB port got burned?

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2010Did you read in the title that HTC and Nokia have official ... moreYou better read this: "There is still no official statement on the Antennagate from HTC and Samsung..."
The Nokia statement doesn't mean any striking back against Apple. People are just making it sensational. We'll truth really hurts, and the data presented by Apple tells the truth. You have the factual data? Show it, so people will believe you.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2010Except real life as experienced by real iPhone 4 users does... more1.7% equals 51000 people. If they indeed sold 3 million so far. That means one person returning it every 90 or so seconds. Luckily it's just a cell phone, not a faulty car.

HTC and Nokia did respond and strike back with some comments in the article.
You need to read better.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2010What a storm in a tea cup. In the real world, this isnt rea... moreThe issue isn't that some people get better reception than others, or that the problem manifests in only 0.5% of owners. It's that the design is flawed and allows for potential signal degradation.
Like in the case of Toyota, not hundreds of people have to die before a design flaw needs to be taken care of. One death or even concern about potential harm is enough for a complete recall, and Apple should be no exception. Whilst this issue isn't life-threatening, it is unacceptable for a product of this price-range and niveau.
There's no perfect phone, but if its design is revealing actual flaws, it devalues the product, no matter how brilliant it is.

Apple really sucks! A luck they don't sell cars otherwise and if they had the similar brake problems like toyota, they would just say you are pushing the pedal the wrong way, dispatch you with a bumper to put around it and then bash the other car manufacturers...
Go and solve your own problems Apple! Other phones don't have this antenna issue and just work fine.

[deleted post]IF it is really 0.55% with faults, I guess 100% of all *phone4 users don't need a free case from Apple.
Also saying that you are 0.55% of our problem, and that you are only minor to users experiencing this problem is very offensive.
Not only that, it still doesn't stop the fact that Apple is blaming ALL phone manufacturers for having the same problem as Apple. It's called arrogant, and bein' an @ss. ((warf!))

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2010What, so Apple points out the truth.
Radio waves and ant... moreYes, Radio waves and antennas are affected by the human body but not as much as the *phone4.
The YouTube is full of clips of phones displaying how they could have signals affected by a user, but it doesn't proves that it is as bad as the *phone4.
Dropped calls and reception issues existed before the iPhone came along, but it is not as bad as the *phone4.
So why was Apple singled out for something that's been happening for years? Because it is the worse phone with bad reception in 2010. Any other manufacturers are doing better than that, and that includes from Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, Sony Ericsson, and so on... except Apple.

let's all look at it this way:
apple wanted to give the iphone an update (hardware and software).. and they did. too bad they werent able to test the unit properly before going to mass production. all jobs has to do is to admit to the faults.

Radio waves and antennas are affected by the human body.
YouTube is full of clips of phones displaying this behaviour dating back before the iPhone 4 became an issue blown out of all proportion.

obviously, this is a design flaw on apple's part... and jobs wont take the blame for it. of course, they wont admit that it's a design flaw.they'll be forced to take back all the sold phones and that only means they'll lose money. they wouldnt want that on their track record.
it's design flaw. hardware flaw. cant be fixed by software updates. they could however make it seem like you're not losing all that signal even if you are dropping calls in reality.
let's face it. even if the new iphone4 is "better" than the old ones on papers, it has a major design flaw that makes it unacceptable in phone standards.
be a man jobs! admit that the iphone4 antenna is flawed. dont cover up by saying every manufacturer has this problem. and dont say that the users are holding it the wrong way. youre making it seem like every iphone user is $tupid (except for those fanboys that worship apple). haha
