htc and nokia, 19 Jul 2010htc and nokia got a week response to apples statement lol i... moreI have owned many Nokias, HTC, Samsung, Motorola, and other phones. I haven't got the need to return any of those phones, unless they are DOA.
However, this doesn't change the fact that you and Apple are throwing trashes at every other phone manufacturers for no similar problem.

I honestly did not expect this from Apple. A respectable company simply does not resort to this childish finger pointing when something goes wrong.

htc and nokia got a week response to apples statement lol i guess they too make crap phones and can't deny it either. at least you don't have to buy a iphone if you don't like it and if you have go and return it right now and get your money back end of story. hold on now try doing that with nokia or htc haha. your now even more pissed cause you can't and nokia will deny there is any issue lol. at least iphone was honest from start.

p.s if you are going to contact trading standards. You may want to use a landline or one of your mates phones that will actually make a call.

i think people should stop complaining on here and start complaining to trading standards.
If a product is not fit for purpose then they can stop it's sale and force apple to recall and redesign it.
And i think you would have to be a complete forrest gump to say this phone is fit for purpose.

I am a proud owner of Blackberry Bold 9700 and l have NEVER experienced a drop in signal irrespective of the way l hold the handset.
Apple should concentrate to solve their own problems instead of attacking other manufacturers!!

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2010Guess what? RIM, HTC etc are coming out with these state... moreIt's 2010, I haven't heard of such a thing as a "dropped call" in years. Until Apple re-invented them. (disclaimer: I'm not living in the States and have no idea what AT&T is, however, GSMArena isn't an American site and they experienced dropped calls in the iPhone review anyway).

[deleted post]Actually he didn't trash anyone, he pointed out that they make great smartphone's and that all phones suffer the same issues, which was proven with videos.
Nokia wasn't even mentioned.
So why was the iPhone singled out?

And a technical expert at PC World said
"administering the "death grip" (which I will note is a fairly unnatural way to hold the phone, in my opinion)"
Unnatural way to hold a phone.
You see, I don't know about you, but I hold my iphone from the bottom, in the palm of my hand. I don't grip it as if it's going to jump out my hand. It rests securely enough in my left.
Overblown, and a MASSIVE overreaction. You will feel quite foolish in the coming months.

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2010Guess what?
RIM, HTC etc are coming out with these state... moreHow in this instance does this have anything to do with physics? how does this involve any sort of gravity variable????
You have no idea what you are talking about, I am no expert either but I know for sure that physics have nothing to do with phone reception in this case. Do not act like an expert because you are not.

[deleted post]I'm wondering if this isn't a smokescreen for AT&T you know. I've hardly seen any complaints from Vodafone or Orange customers, yet AT&T is notorious for dropped calls on many different handsets. Perhaps most of the complaints are simply because AT&T are not offering a good enough service??
Not that the haters will bother with this information.....

Guess what?
RIM, HTC etc are coming out with these statements BUT they don't say it doesn't happen.
You know why?
Because anything that works on radio waves with an antenna is affected by the human body.
It's an inescapable law of physics.
So why single out Apple in the first place?
Were there no dropped calls before the iPhone was first released?

Well very nice of Apple to compare with other phones like RIM or Samsung... But Steve Jobs has to know that even if you hold your phone like that you will not lose that much connection... So we already know now that it is a hardware issue instead of software issue.
