Antennagate ain't over, Samsung and Motorola respond, too

19 July, 2010
After RIM, HTC and Nokia, it was about time for the respond of the rest of the companies affected by Apple's statements last Friday. Well, here is what Samsung and Motorola have to say about the whole shebang...

Anonymous, 20 Jul 2010Prove it. Where are some numbers.Up to now 0% of nokia users have complained about dropped calls or existence of the death touch to their devices.Infact apple didn't include any nokia phone in their demostration of how phones can loose network when gripped because Steve Jobs tried with over 12 nokia handsets and didn't see any effect.

So it was never an issue before iPhones came along.

Mew. Why people can't distinguish the difference? We DID NOT HATE the iPhones. All we HATE is the way Steve Jobs excuse when he cornered. An idiotic moves I say. Let say, when you work anywhere, and found that your work has a flaw, try to defend it by pointing others' flaws. I'm sure you will sacked very soon. Got the point?

So I said it once again. It's not the iPhone we hate, it's Steve Jobs.

[deleted post]A major flop is when a device doesn't work.  The iphone4 works.  And that is exactly what Steve was talking about when he said that the press blew it way out of proportion.

Big proof that the iphone4 works, is the huge number of units sold and the insignificant return rates and complaints.

Also, Apple never said that an OS update would fix the weak spot.  It was to improve accuracy of the reception bars.  I don't know where you got the idea that the os update was to fix a hardware issue.

It's not your beloved i... moreBigger number doesn't always mean better performance.  An impressive hardware specs w/out a capable OS will not always perform to its full potential.  There has to be balance between hardware and software.  They have to complement each other.

Iphone4 has proved that higher megapixels will not always mean better picture quality.  Its 5mp camera has outclassed several phones with 8mp cameras.  The iphone 3gs lesser processor and ram has better and smoother touch response than phones with bigger processors and rams.

The iphone is definitely one of the best smartphones if not the best out there.

Apple made a mistake and are so full it that they just cant admit that their so called "perfect" phone is FLAWED.
This is ok they say because "there is no perfect phone",are they retarded or something cause in their ads leading up to the release of their MISTAKE they did in fact say this, and after all of that they try to cover it up by giving away free phone cases,if its not broken why try to fix it.
And to add insult to injury they pass it off and say hey our phones aren't they only ones with problems and try to draw attention from their MISTAKE and attempt on the other leading competitors and for me that's a low blow which still doesn't help the fact that they made a MISTAKE.

It's not your beloved iPhone4 that hated by everyone...it's Appple's (Steve Jobs) arrogance...

Try to read carefully and understand perfectly before make any comments...

And yes, all of the device mentioned before (N8, Wave, etc..) all are better than iPhone, at least on paper.
Read the specs sheet and u will know that they are all have a better hardware and technology than iPhone.
What's better in iPhone is just it's smooth and flawless UI..

Yes, I admit that iPhone is a GOOD phone, but definetely not THE BEST one....

I just have to say this again.

Remember this, ALL OF THEM disgreed on the iphone4's antenna design. Now let's watch and see in the next few months developments on how Apple would eliminate that 1 little weak spot that causes the attenuation issue. I see another Apple patent coming soon :)

In a way I'm glad that rim, nokia, htc, samsung, and motorola all reacted defensively to Apple's press con.  I'm glad they all criticizedc, mocked, and DISAGREED with the iphone4's antenna design :)

Whether anyone agrees with it or not, it did prove to improve reception for the iphone.  It also saved a lot of internal hardware space, making room for a bigger battery to improve battery life, and is the reason why the iphone4 is the thinnest smartphone in the world.

Only Apple dared to risk it so they can INNOVATE.  As a first attempt on this external antenna design, I say they did pretty well.  When they figure out a way to make this work without a case and totally ELIMINATE A WEAK SPOT that all phones have right now, let's see what the others will do :)

I think Steve knows and wants this kind of reaction from the media, the haters, and their competitors.  Apple will push for this design and make it work, and It would be a big year for Apple next year :)

So go on haters. Enjoy it while it lasts. You guys will eat your words big time when Apple hits this right the next time :)

Anonymous, 20 Jul 2010I didn't agree... Iphone always get the best publicity from... moreNothing wrong at with media pointing out flaws. But they have to be fair. The iphone4 is not the only phone with a weak spot. All phones do. And the media failed to mention this, giving the readers the impression that it's only the iphone that faces this attenuation challenge. Plus, the media made it sound so serious as if users cannot make and receive calls with their iphone4, when the truth is, the iphone4 has the best reception and call quality among all iphones.

I hope competitors and haters mark their words in criticizing the iphone4's antenna design. This design does improve reception and saves hardware space. We now know that a simple case fixes the issue. Once Apple figures out a way to remedy this issue w/out a case, it would be another innovation from Apple, and they will eat their words, and they better not copy it.

Iphone always get the best publicity from the media quoting how well it perform, how well it design, etc. A fraud less Iphone get all the attention in credit to Apple like it's previous 3GS... So, if the current Iphone 4 has a defect, I assume it is alright to get all the attention. If Apple get 100% of attention in crediting its good stuff, it's fair and square to get 100% of attention on their bad stuff...

The only p... moreLOL, so the lack of Flash LED that all the haters were laughing about on the iphone suddenly "isn't needed" on the Galaxy? Rubbish. The Nokia N86 takes photos in a low light, but it's sensor still needed dual flash. No mobile sensor can do without flash in low light.

Galaxy - screen inferior and "fools" the eyes into thinking it's better than it really is. Look closely at the definition on the iphone 4's screen. It's clearly superior and easy on the eye. It's the best AMOLED screen there is. And that's about it.

As for the Gyroscope, Apple is once again leading the way in making good use of existing technology and Samsung have only added it to their Captivate variant at a late stage! Copycats :p
