Tech, 22 Jul 2010Wow after reading the comments I am amazed to see so many c... moreBut u do realize that Iphone 4 has an external antenna which when touched "as showed in videos" in the left down side loses signal very fast unlike other smart phones which i personally tested, we even went to extreme measures and tried to cover all of the phone with our hands, its true that 2 or 1 bar might fall out from the signal but not all O_O like the Iphone 4, and u know why that happens ? If ur not aware, a human body conducts electricity and when the Iphone 4's external antenna is touched, the signal goes down fast because we are not metal or antennas, we are flesh but we conduct electricity which affects the external unprotected antenna of the Iphone 4 unlike other phones out there which have a protected internal antenna.

I would like to highlight, in the video, that the N97 mini, even if it's losing some bars reception, is still keeping the 3.5G data speed.
the iphone 4 is even not able to do that way when losing signal reception, most of the time it switch to edge or worst to gprs or even worst lose signal.
So please, Steve take care of your own apple's worm.

Yes the bump... moreTo all people who believe the Iphone 4's antenna grip issue is just over exaggerated and blown out by the media, well think again.
And if u really think the bumper case would fix the problem, then think twice because it just helps a bit but still impacts a lot on upload speeds which clearly shows that its not a complete FIX, just slightly decreases the problem.

Iphone 4 grip issue CONFIRMED, Bumpers will only decrease the issue, but still there is clearly a huge impact on the Download and Upload KBPS.

My conclusion after testing.
My guess is Apple has used a clever Foxy (Sly) way to show public that other phones suffer from same signal issue. The trick is behind the demonstrator's hand as I assume it is not clean as it may seem. His hand may be covered with a transparent substance that blocks radio signal. Hence, when covering the antenna potion completely, the signals cannot find a way to the antenna around the "isolator hand"
As a side note for non-tech people, radio wave signals are like human voices. It can turn around edges & bounce back. That is why you can hear some one calling you from next room or in cordidors and you can't see him.
Now, by blocking most/all the turns & bounced waves in reaching the antenna, the signal banner will reduce to minimum/zero. It is like concealing your ears from hearing someone speaking to you.
The only way to prove them wrong is to ask someone from public to try it Apple's claim after Apple demonstrates it in public.
I have tried myself on my Bold 9700, not a single drop in my phone signal. I covered the bottom part of my phone with both hands, only one bar has drop from Max signal!!!

Yes the bumper or a cover does the job, infact I tested the phones with an inexpensive third party cover, and it does the job for Iphone 4, HTC Nokia, Samsung etc phones, the signal is intact and perfect with normal cover also you can buy these covers from amazon, ebay or any other accessory sites.

I think Apple are behaving like a stubborn child now. They are determined to bring every other company into the antenna argument. Why don't they just bite the bullet and admit that the design of the iphone 4 was flawed. It's pathetic.

From what I've seen, the Nokia displays the correct amount of bars at all times and can maintain a call even at 1 bar.

Since you seem to have very good credentials, I would like to know your opinion about the case that Apple is offering to their iPhone 4 users. Does this case actually improve the reception of the iPhone 4? Will such a case also improve the reception of the other phones that have also exhibited this signal drop?

Wow after reading the comments I am amazed to see so many comments on Apple, I am a professional mobile antenna and chip designer with technology knowledge from basics to professional and ofcourse I dont work for apple. But i have been using and testing an Iphone 4 and other High end phones for a while, so here it is
1) What Apple is showing in the Videos is absolutely truth and correct I have tested phones and its genuine to see the drop in signal, infact Nokia Htc Samsung Lg knows that no matter how much they deny.
2) i have used and tested almost every High end Smart phone and realized that Apple products are still top notch in terms of there quality, still when I see the quality of Cameras to interface to touch screen to CPU to GPU, Apple I phone 4 scored better in benchmarks then any other smart phones in the Market right now.
3)I am using and testing the Iphone 4 with an HTC high end phone, actually both of them behave exactly the same in terms of signal, quality with and without the silicon cover, in fact truly speaking the Voice and speaker quality on I phone 4 is way better to hear as well as when I benchmarked them during testing time.
4) Lastly I am not a Apple Fan boy bcuse there product are Pricey but to tell you frankly without any bias Apple still have the best phone in the market, you will realize it when you will use Iphone 4 for a month or 15 days and then use any other brand phone in the Market. You will find it Iphone 4 is better. just a normal opinion.

Apple actually got it all wrong....They have actually invented a new thing in phones, a Call End button in side :D :D
Rather than trying to show other companies in bad, they could have told their fans about this new invention in phones, and then their iSheeps would be delighted about this out of the world feature.
