Wow, Apple discovered that shadows of people behind the Nokia holder affects signal. Watch shadows (right of the thumb) moving from left to right and signal drop (exact moment the holder pushes his finger on the screen). And watch shadows moving from right to left and signal increase.
Don't buy Nokia. Signal depends on movement of people behind you. (sarcasm)

In most phone, if you cover the antenna, the signal will drop.
with iphone4, you don't have to cover the antenna to make the signal go away. you can do it with a 1 finger touch it lightly.... I repeat... SIMPLE TOUCH can kill your iphone4 signal... you don't have to cover the whole phone.

every phone has an antenna located somewhere. the thing is that they have to be located in the phone at the right position. in the n97mini it is located in a place which you do not HAVE to cover when you are talking to someone else on the phone. on the other hand the iphone 4's antenna is located in a place which you HAVE TO COVER while talking on the phone and that is why the calls get disconected. basically, apple failed in one of the major things that are kept in mind when you make a MOBILE PHONE.

To me it's obvious that by covering the antenna, signal strength decreases, duuuh... I also know Nokia (I own a 1600) writes in their manuals that by covering the antenna (and give a picture) you unnecessarily increase the power needed for communication.
Anyway, in my case, antennas in all the family's three owned phones (Nokia 1600, SE W810, LG KP100) are in the upper part of the phone and nobody covers them. Plus, I don't think anyone holds a phone like a brick about to be thrown in a window just to cover the antenna =))
I have an idea: wrap your phone in tinfoil and then see what happens with your signal :D :D :D

I would suggest that Apple should think about attacking there real threat; the android operating system. There wasting there strength attacking a company that has so little US market share. Android is showing expotential growth in most world markets. Android is being produced by most cell phone manufactures. Android products are available from most cell phone providers in most major markets. Most useful android application are free while most useful apple applications cost money. I understand that attaching Nokia smart phones in the US markets is much easy but your wasting your energy as there is a huge threat to your profitably advancing....

After Apple’s initial comments regarding how most smartphones suffer from similar issues to the iPhone 4 antenna/reception issues, Nokia issued the following statement:
“In general, antenna performance of a mobile device/phone may be affected with a tight grip, depending on how the device is held. That’s why Nokia designs our phones to ensure acceptable performance in all real life cases, for example when the phone is held in either hand. Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying how people hold their phones and allows for this in designs, for example by having antennas both at the top and bottom of the phone and by careful selection of materials and their use in the mechanical design.”

I don't get it ! Why does Apple want to show that other phones have the same problem ? That kinda makes the Iphone no different from the other phones... I think they are desperate because they screwed up and instead of admitting this (after all they are humans) and doing the right thing by trying to fix the problem, they are playing a mind game with the audience by showing what problems have other phones and distracting their attention from what matters. This is not the kind of attitude a phone manufacturer like Apple should have, especially them, the most loved phone: iPhone...... SO SAD.... :(
And another thing: what they are doing is anti advertising other products and I don't think that is fair ! Nokia can now sue Apple for putting them in a bad light. Why Apple ? Why ? Why doesn't the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs have this problem ? For what Apple does now I will have a more reserved good opinion about them.

It seems to me that US analyst FAILED to include number from outside USA, so the number were skewed to apple winning the battle, in reality were... NOKIA winning the battle.
From the blog, I quote:

These 16,500 complaints were generated in the first 22 days, where it will easily take many days for a consumer to notice the problem - then to observe it is a 'pattern' rather than a one-time random event - and then to go call AT&T first, and then after those moments to turn to Apple and call. The real problem is FAR bigger than this what Apple now kindly reports to us.
How does that compare with the industry. HTC has provided its complaints level of the smartphone Apple mentioned in its press conference, the HTC Desire/Legend/Nexus One. How many complaints? Try 0.016%. Or one complaint per 6,250 phones."

I've read on some article that it is in actuality around 16,500 people. And on top of that, it's only those people who called Apple that was counted on that 0.55%.
Take it into consideration, what about those that actually called AT&T thinking it was only coverage problems? And that is only in the US, what about those outside of US and the ones not with AT&T? The actual numbers is what you have to think and not the average...basing on that fact alone...there are really a lot!

come on steve job.. dun find any more excuses to cover your product's faulty.. juz admit that is your wrong and try find a solution to solve it.. not to criticise other's product.. Admit your wrong would always protect your company's reputation..

Apple/Steve Jobs, I think your forgetting something. The purpose of this press conference was to fix your mistakes, not divert attention towards other handsets. Ok fine, for the sake of argument, lets say you were right and every other phone suffers from a similar problem. What exacly does that prove? Does that somehow justify Apple's manufacturing of a defective product? I think not. Apple needs to stop diverting attention away from itself and admit its mistake.
