Apple squeezes the reception out of Nokia N97 mini

21 July, 2010
Apple seem keen to prove other smartphones have the same reception attenuation as the iPhone 4. And they are getting back with a video of Nokia N97 mini that suffers from the same grip of death as the iPhone...

[deleted post]jezus christ! it's been like 3 years and still with the bt file transfer? really? and i'd rather have exclusive quality apps for streaming many sites and videos rather than a flash enabled web browser loaded with cheap ugly looking ads and something that would drain the hell out of your battery and heat it up. the most successful phone suddenly makes owners 'stupid'? pathetic much.. have you even used an iphone? lol

i think after these issues with iphone 4,apple should release the new jailbreak sooner than the planned date,to boost their sales ,especially when knowing that most of the previous iphones in the developing countries are sold readily jailbroken ;)

for all those who talking about features. Take any symbian OS phone from 2005 And it will beat all your iOS OSx futures.
plus Symbian (the best operating system so far) is open source

Fahad, 22 Jul 2010Bro I am using iPhone for 2 years.I have 2g,3g,3gs.I wanted... moreYeah I kinda agree what your saying. My 3GS is serving me superb and iPhone 4 issues make you think whether its worth upgrading. But I still think the iPhone 4 is a superb phone and if there are many happy users without problems, that shows the problem is blown outta proportion as Jobs says it has and not as widescale as the media have made it out to be. Id buy the iPhone 4, but as the 3GS accomodates the main feautures I need and is not that much of a step down, im quite happy with it :)

waiting, 22 Jul 2010you are such a fan boy man.. wake up and smell the crap you... more'It doesn't have the tech to keep up'? Last time I checked, the iPhone has a 1ghz processor just like all current phones have right now. You must be talking about the features huh? You see.. that's the problem with you dimwits, it's all abut the features isn't it? Sorry, but so far the iOS is by far the best OS. It's because people get awesome experience with it. You can have the best sh!tload os features ever, but a crappy OS will only make it sh!t. Like seriously, do you believe Apple could sell this much if it were all about features?

[deleted post]5 reasons to say no for iphone.

1 You are still too dependant on having Steve Jobs decide what you can download and when. Since Jobs thinks that Adobe Flash is bad and won't allow it on Apple devices, you can't see half of what's out on the web. - Have you used the Safari browser? I dont think so, we dont need silly ads and moving images to enjoy the web browse. And where you have dodgy flash streaming, we have apps for some of the best streaming sites, only exclusive to the iPhone!

2 The name implies that it is a 4th generation mobile phone when it is actually still 3G. Apple says that it is the Iphone 4, however some might be dumb enough to believe that it can use the 4th generation wireless broadband standards, although it really can't. - Actually it implies its the 4th iPhone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does it say iPhone 4G? No!

3 The Iphone 4 is selling on its video-calling program, called FaceTime. However this is limited to WiFi networks for now, which means that the best thing about the Iphone 4 will not work in most locations unless you happen to be near a WiFi hot spot. Also you can only conference with other Iphone 4 users. - True, for now its limited to WiFi and iPhone 4 users. But thats just for now, a front camera opens possibilities for the future.

4 It uses Bing instead of Google for Internet search. - Come again? Bing is another choice! I use Google! And if you go to Safari, you can go easily go to the Google home page as well!

5 Antennage and User support - The antenna may cause issues for some iPhone 4 users but that dont stop iphone 4 sales. Thats cos many still can use the phone without problems. And if Apple are offering a full refund and free bumper cases, I call that fair.

Please do your research before bashing the iPhone!

Jts, 22 Jul 2010Smartphone market nokia 41% up 1% iphone 14% down 2% for Q3 Seriously?? Again with the market share? You can take all that and shove it down your *ss. The real deal hear is Nokia making a single high-end phone which can compete with Apple's single iPhone which Nokia failed to do. Heck, it's already been three years and still no successful high-end phone from Nokia. Of course Nokia has a better market share. They sell phones like the 5233 which they consider a 'smartphone' for god's sake! And the fact that they loss 40% is still remains, market share aint gonna mean anything. Apple still wins with more profit, kid.

Looks like Apple have been out phone shopping. Steve there are about another 60 models in our range. You are welcome to purchase them and give them a try. It looks like you have a whole collection of other manufacturer's phones as well, so enjoy the reverse engineering, as your own engineering solutions are found wanting.

Then explain to me how Apple overtook Nokia as b... moreBro I am using iPhone for 2 years.I have 2g,3g,3gs.I wanted to buy 4g.bt for some reason I cancel it.1st reason is,apple forces us to buy newer model.how?ios 4 only support 4g,3gs and 3g.not 2g.so 2g users can't experiene it.not only that, even 3g user also can't have all features of os 4.only 3gs and 4g user can experience os 4 100%so they actually forcing us to buy new hardware.beside this my n96 still getting update from Nokia.they are this much loyal to their customers. It's true iPhone os is simply awesome.and with games there is no other phone can come close to it. Probably never will. I am also using x10,n900 but none of them was close to iPhone.but recently I see they did some fault with their 4g.but they are trying to escape the situation by blaming other companies phone.I decided not to buy 4g.not for the reception bar or dropped calls.only for the behave of apple.I do not think for me they will loss any profit.they make billions.but I think there are people like me.who are thinking same as I do.

Haha...you know what really cracks me up? In real life, we never squeeze our cellphone, we just grab it lightly while we talk. I honestly think, it is pathetic of Apple trying to squeeze the reception issue out of other smart phones, instead of working on a proper successful hardware design. Even on the videos Steve Jobs displayed, experimenting on BB etc, it is unnatural to hold any cellphones that way, especially so tightly. Where as with iPhone 4, even when you hold it lightly on the death grip spot, it easily loses signal!!! I am an Apple user specially computers, and I like their products, but this is where Apple should draw a line, step back and correct their mistakes.

But imagine if the Iphone had no apps or people didn't design any apps for it. It would just be an old, normal phone. As all the Iphones still do not have bluetooth file transfering. These are the basic necessities for any phone. Maybe the iphone 5 will have it?
