Apple squeezes the reception out of Nokia N97 mini

21 July, 2010
Apple seem keen to prove other smartphones have the same reception attenuation as the iPhone 4. And they are getting back with a video of Nokia N97 mini that suffers from the same grip of death as the iPhone...

Now
I'm scared Nokia & Samsung, HTC & Blackberry will post a video now using someone with a dirty conductive hand holding it showing it cutting their call out.

Nervous Iphone4fan

>>> you should really be nervous!!! because all other mobile phone companies doesnt tell thier consumers to have a squeaky clean hand before using their handsets.....
even with a dirty hand..all other mobile phone will work just fine..mainly the ost BASIC function of a mobile phone.

Apple did a wonderful job to create public awareness. This would push the industry to improve or fix weak spots. I can't believe that the others and sat there pretending that they don't have attenuation issues when they do. Apple is doing agreat job. No wonder they made more billions again unlike the others :)

i disagree with that, i doubt it's because if covering the antenna, i say this because when i had my nokia n95-1 this used to happen to it too when you gave it a squeeze and so i investigated, this was due to when you squeeze the phone the pins on connecting to the antenna where moving, thus it would lose reception, i just had the phone serveice and it was ok after that. i'm sure it is the same thing going on here...

Anonymous, 22 Jul 2010apple should admit to their faults and correct them instead... moreBut it is the fault of the others why the ip4 has attenuation issues. They all started it. If not for them, the ip4 will not have any problems. It's their fault :)

Well, i have a Samsung Omnia 2. Apple says the signal drops from 4bars to 1 bar. I tried doing what they did,BUT APPARENTLY THE SIGNAL STAYED THERE AT 4 BARS!!!! nth happened to the signal. So, this showed that apple are just putting the blame on other companies but actually it's apples fault!

if all phones are same wot does difference iphone makes

This is silly arguments Apple fans are expecting something different from them a kind of superior feel so now all are same there in no point in differentiating a iphone from other smartphone

now iphone is just another smartphone with no differentiating factors

looks like steve jobs needs to get back to do his real job i.e.
1)accept your product shortcomings and work on a real solution
2)don't be cheeky and compare your product faults with competitors with a view to get away with it(very childish behaviour from a person representing such a large company)
3)try to keep the brand name high which is collapsing with every public appearance made by mr.jobs trying to shield his faulty product.

Ok apple arent completely wrong in the phone, I just squeezed the top of my nokia 5530xpressmusic very hard, and it dropped to one hard, but hardly anyone squeezes their phone so much anyway, so it's no biggie.

This has become unbearable now. Pathetic display of a total lack of accountability and responsibility by Apple.

apple should admit to their faults and correct them instead of screwing around with the other companies. its completely wrong to blame these problems on software issues and drag other company's phones into the fray for the sake of proving their own is good. and if another company comes up wid a dirty video of an iphone4, i feel apple deserves it.
and if the nokia n97 were dropping calls due to de grip shown in the video, we would have heard complaints about it but we haven't so apple have really proved nothing. that signal strength decreases on covering the antenna is a well known fact and every phone's manual mentions it.

Apple had 3 years to work on only 1 phone and they still couldn't get it right. Nokia and the others work on hundreds a year and although tey can have some glitches at times, they all go a prtty damn good job. With all of apple's time resources on 1 phone i think they deserve to have the crap kicked out of them by the media.

The iphone is way too expensive for its limited features. If i bought a new ferrari and found that the leather seats were all ripped and torn. I personally would be furious if Ferrari told me to just put seat covers over them.
