Apple squeezes the reception out of Nokia N97 mini

21 July, 2010
Apple seem keen to prove other smartphones have the same reception attenuation as the iPhone 4. And they are getting back with a video of Nokia N97 mini that suffers from the same grip of death as the iPhone...

Hi friends. Let's not waste our valuable time and Gsm arena's web space. All people except few i_self drummers know that Iphone is really the worst ever phone produced and sold at the price at which it's offered.

Whatever..apple doesn't want to admit their phone is crap, so they are finding any use of a scapgoat and saying other companies have the same problem...funny..don't hear other review from users re: drop out in calls...oh yes...if you look at the way they grip the phone...NO ONE GRIPS LIKE THAT...if they did, wouldn't be alot of room to actually use the touch screen

the video above is kinda fake why?

              1. 3.5 G aka HSDPA(3.6Mbps) and its different from 3G(HSPA) with only 384 kbps of speed...it only appears during internet connection or ur are connected to the internet ang there is a 3.5G NETWORK AVAILABLE..i concluded that there is some of manipulation in this presentation
Bcoz if 3.5G appears beside two parallel lines with half arrow on both sides means ur connected to a 3.5 G network

              2. Even u death gripping 3G Nokia phones mybe u wl lose all the 3G signal but in a blink of an eye.GSM signal will replace.so no signal lost could happen to the phone..

If Apple wants to tell the truth abou all this fiasco..they could test Side by side iphone 4 and any other smartphone doing the same grip and test the time how fast ip4 lose it signal and that of any smartphone..
I really hope that someone fr GSMArena will test contending smartphones regarding this antenna issue..

No Phone can Beat n95 supremacy..it even kick iphone4 in terms of convergence..

Anonymous, 24 Jul 2010Lol.  Another non-ip4 user who talks about ip4 dropped... moreI think you need to come out from the iPhone shadow and see the real world.

See this blog, this blog is made by the well known Tomi Ahonen.
                http://communities-dominate.blogs.com/brands/2010/07/so-the-reality-check-on-apples-iphone-complaints-numbers.html

                I quote:
                "THE COMPLAINTS OF 0.55%

Apple said 0.55 % of iPhone 4 users have called to complain about the antenna problems. Across 3 million sold iPhones, that is 16,500 people who have called Apple to complain. So my first immediate screaming observation is that this is perceived as a connection problem - the network connection was dropped, a call was dropped. Who do you call to complain about it? The first point of complaint will be the mobile operator (AT&T etc)

But yeah, 16,500 people have called Apple to complain. Is that a big number or small? Remember a car maker called Toyota? They had this nasty problem earlier this year, called 'unintended acceleration' which seemed to trouble several Toyota and Lexus models. It was really big in the news, as 52 people were killed in accidents involving those vehicles. How many total complaints have there been about Toyota and Lexus venicles in America in the full duration of that problem, from January to June? According to the US highways safety board, the NHTSA - the total number of complaints about Toyota and Lexus vehicles was 1,500. Thats it. Over six months, its an average of 8 per day.

Now fast forward to July of 2010. Apple says that in 22 days, they have received 16,500 complaints about iPhone Death Grip! Thats 750 per day! This is nearly 100 times more complaints daily, than the most famous consumer product failure in recent memory! Is Apple's problem 'real' or is it 'imagined'? Is it trivially small, or is it enormous? Obviously it is one of the biggest consumer product failures in recent memory. And by a mile, the worst phone launch. These 16,500 complaints were generated in the first 22 days, where it will easily take many days for a consumer to notice the problem - then to observe it is a 'pattern' rather than a one-time random event - and then to go call AT&T first, and then after those moments to turn to Apple and call. The real problem is FAR bigger than this what Apple now kindly reports to us.

How does that compare with the industry. HTC has provided its complaints level of the smartphone Apple mentioned in its press conference, the HTC Desire/Legend/Nexus One. How many complaints? Try 0.016%. Or one complaint per 6,250 phones.

Meanwhile Apple who tries to say everybody has the same problem, also told us that 20% of iPhone 4 buyers had a case or band. These won't be able to experience the problem. How bad is Apple's problem. The 0.55% is not from 100 phones, you have to remove the 20% who have the case. So its from 80 phones. So Apple has one complaint call per 145 iPhone 4 models sold!

Is this a fair comparison? As HTC says, Apple has 35 times more complaints than HTC. And HTC's product has been on the market for 9 months, so there is plenty of time for buyers to examine the product and find out all possible problems - still only one complaint per 6,250 smartphones. If we assume HTC has sold 3 million of those devices (to keep the math the same as the iPhone, probably HTC has sold less than this number) - that would be 480 complaints in total over 9 months, or 2 complaints per day.

In just 3 weeks of use, Apple owners have already found so much of a problem, 1 in 145 will call Apple to complain. And yeah, it is 750 complaints per day!. Apple problem is nearly 400 times worse than that of HTC's smartphones."

                ----
If you still that apple is the best, than I can say that you were really brainwashed by apple.

Anonymous, 24 Jul 2010Yet your high end nokia device could not beat the iphone :)... moreThe Nokia N97 mini is a superior phone when compared with the IP4. What happens when you perform a software upgrade on the IP4 and it cannot be reverted? The only people that buy IPhones are those with more $$$ than sense. Who really wants to pay through the nose for a flawed phone like the IP4 that discriminates against left-handed people?

of course Americans are locked up in the world of service provider why because it's cheaper...so their minds are locked up also with limited mobile technology updates. contract so therefore the best pick would be iphone....evo....blackberry... and so one.

don't you know that some american service providers modifies the originality of the phone (unlocked) like Sprint and Verizon...AT&T and T-mobile although it's simcard based, it limits the features inside to some phones. that's why i had to debrand my w580i sony ericsson. see they even add a letter. just take a look E71x from the original E71...i think Iphone is getting uniformed here in US it's at work i see most of them have it...in my view i wan't to be different that's why i buy unlocked phones.
