Video shows the OnePlus 3 struggling to take advantage of its 6GB of RAM

16 June, 2016
We all know that bigger numbers look great on promotional materials and there is generally nothing wrong with getting more RAM, storage and other resources for your cash. However, if you are old enough, you likely remember the so called "bit wars" that raged on for a while on the console scene - definitely a perfect illustration of what can happen when tech advancements get featured in marketing first and functionally perfected later, if at all.

AnonD-2349, 16 Jun 2016Whats wrong with gsmarena. Have u been paid or what? I ha... moreIts just that people like you get overly defensive for some reason. People were wondering what optic amoled was and they explained it, even saying that many companies don't use off the shelf displays and ask for customizations.

Even in this one, they say that it would hopefully be quickly fixed with updates.

So yeah, it really is just people like you who get defensive for some reason, the articles are fine. People would also be interested as to what impact 6gb ram would actually have in user experience.

      Whats wrong with gsmarena.
Have u been paid or what?
I have been seeing your discontent with op3 since its launch where its launch news would just be replaced by samsungs verison update or other useless stuff like they wanted to puch op3 news below

Then came the bashing with its so called optic amoled
Duh they used a diff name for super amoled to differtiate, every retina hd phone does that, no need to write that article in a -ve tone

Anyways, everyphone you review including s6, s6 note, lg ,htc, you mention that software might notbe good at the moment and a future update should fix it reassuring the readers that such issues like the ram in this one or a camera improvement will come in update but here its like you want the buyers to be scared bashing op3 how poor it is

Hell my s6 couldnt keep apps opened for a year and had this issue but u never raised it,
Even now s6 -t mob version hasnt recieved any update for 2 months but you are not covering that news but instead i read news abt how good t-mob is every other day.

By now you guys would have guessed that i have s6 so for this year i am not imterested in any phone but i am definately interested in the site i use fot reading news and their way of covering news and gsmarena has lost points in that perspective

Hockeybro13, 16 Jun 2016Not saying his video is false or fake but I find it amusing... moreIf you noticed, the same channel posted another video on how many games (highly intensive ones) the OnePlus 3 can hold in memory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnhOa8sPX2E
It's because they were the ONLY ones opened. The limit is around 8 for oneplus 3. But when just two games are opened ALONG with 14 other apps, it struggles to keep all 16 in memory, hence takes away the heavier ones from it. That's why, in the video, apps like play store, youtube, were in memory but asphalt 8 and temple run 2 weren't!

                            loved this test

Not saying his video is false or fake but I find it amusing how reviewers like Android authority and pocket now have shown in their videos that the op3 can easily keep many apps open at once (even high performance games) so how is it that this "small" reviewer is finding all these issues that the major tech folk haven't seen in their devices? Mmm this is why I don't bother with reviewers like him

Everyone is making a big deal about how the xperia x performed, but that was because of the a72 cores, the galaxy a9 performed similarly. If you look at their older phones which were similarly specced to the competition, they didn't actually perform better. There is no magic.

If you watched the test, it was mainly asphalt 8 that it had trouble with, its too soon to tell whether its the same for all heavy games. Temple run was fine for the most part.

And it has an aggressive ram management issue, but so did the galaxy s6. Main thing is whether or not they fix it in a reasonable time frame, and again, its too soon to tell.

he has s7 charged but OP3 is like 25% (probably with energy saving or something).

in any case I do not care how long it takes to open mindless games. So what it struggled with some games... make a lap without those games and it wont drag behind so much.

Anyway, I will have to see much more proving videos to believe this!!!
